never seen a horror movie that was both quite scary and totally hilarious. evil dead 2 tried this but failed miserably imo. the black comedy in this film is fantastic, yet a few moments later you're tense as all hell. i was really impressed with the way the movie managed to do both equally well, without compromising each other.
this film was a breath of fresh air from what i consider the most problematic genre. there are some really clever choices by the writers which make some scenes really subtle yet hilarious. i watch a lot of horror flicks compared to other stuff these days and it definitely more successful at pushing your buttons than most of the competition.
moff plays a very similar character as the one from human traffic, and he's so fucking good if anyone has seen it and can recommend something similar id love to hear from you.

The Astor theatre will be showing between 20-30 march.. *drumroll*
GRINDHOUSE!!
yes that's right... GRINDHOUSE! not the 2 movies seperately. For those that have boycotted the split, you can now watch the damn thing as originally intended!
Enjoy!! ++
Yeah i wanted to see it the real way but alas just saw Death Proof on dvd. Holy shit the first crash scene takes graphic to a new level.

wowzers loved it heaps
such an artsyfartsy movie, based solely around the beatles whole discography
Grindhouse.. best movie this year. If you haven't seen it, or only seen Planet Terror and/or Death Proof separately, see grind house. The extra trailers are worth it alone.
I think finishes tomorrow at astor so hurry.
took a break from thesis writing today and watched:
Cloverfield.
Cool monster. I liked the whole film being from cmacorder POV. What I didn't like was the dialogue. Student American 20-somethings. But it was enjoyable, and went for the right [short] amount of time.
Would recommend it, not highly, mainly for the monster

yeah i saw cloverfield on the weekend too, it was alright.. i wish they wouldve explained more about what the monster was/where it came from, and whatever.. but for what it was, it as good
yeah noticed the same thing Dave, good concept, keeps you wondering the whole way through....part 2 would answer quite a few questions I hope. I love how the head of the statue of liberty was smashed for six!

i think the point was to have the movie entirely from a naive point of view.
is there going to be a part 2? don't think it needs it
