reason being you have a nice soft buildup and then pumping bass and you can mix out easily from its vocals and its hard to play it later in a set. Excellent to pump up the crowd from the start, or the appropropriately named The Awakening by York, if you want to start off subtle and soft.

My favorite proggy opener to a trance set is probably Sasha & Emerson - Scorchio (Sander Kleinenberg's Scorched Remix). It loosens up the mood with a comfortably groovy sound and works at the necessary BPM.
