i defend tiesto, hes entertaining, and he brings a lot of interesting things to the table, i just dont think hes picasso
net development (gain/loss, sorry nonbiz majors) i believe tiesto has indeed lost some of the quality that we have come to expect from him, however, nyana seems to be one step in the right direction, and i also feel that when tiesto dropped in ability, the entire trance scene had taken a hit, and just as it rejuvenates now, i think that he does as well.
i cant wait to see the responses i get to this one. |
here the first resposnse:
I totally agree

We are kind of at the same level, I agree with you at many points.
The fact that you just didn't like my comparison with Picasso is not that relevant in this forum. But feel that I wanne explain myself anyway. The comparison was at fist ment to say that no one is perfect, all great artists do make misstakes. That Tiesto did lose his touch for a while it's normal I think, that he once in a while make a misstake in the Dj'both, it's human. That not everybody like he's production... so what.
The reason I even involved in this discussion is that he don't deserve all the shit some ppl in here throw at him, especially as the most ppl sounds as they don't know what they are talking about. And that there are threads like this one over and over again is just plain stupidity.. why

Oakey inspired Tiesto's early sound....try AGAIN!
Tiesto a pioneer?...HOW?
I never said anythign about beatmatching. |
Oakey might have inspired everyone, true, but Tiesto was without a doubt one of the pioneers of the epic melodic DUTCH kind of trance that I'm talking about, which differs GREATLY from the broad mixing style of Oakey ten years ago. Tiesto is a pioneer of the style that predominates nowadays: the formula, the sound, the structure became something of a movement thanks to the exposure that he and Arny gave it with Black Hole and their compilations from the mid-nineties such as the early Forbidden Paradises and then with the early Magiks and the founding of Black Hole. That was very influential and had a huge impact in how euro trance was conceived, it led Oakey to state around 99 that he hated most of the music coming out of the Netherlands, with a few exceptions like Tiesto.
Oakey is Fluoro, Tiesto is FP3. You have to admit that these compilations show how they were so different back in the day, even if Oakey obviously inspired Tijs, but Tiesto pioneered and experimented with his own sound.
Oh, the beatmatching comment was for Ste, not you
