Unhappy You guys just dont get it, do you .....

You guys just dont get it, do you? This is not really about cheese music. People just generally dont like dance&electronica, and the only artists that make it at least likeable among many people who dont like electronica is artists like DJ Sammy and Ian Van Dahl. Personally, I think more people like cheese music than the good electronica. Although its true that many people never get to hear how good real trance, not the cheesy one is, you got to give those artists (cheese) a credit for giving a rise to a bigger electronica culture than it was in the beginning of '98. That year i almost felt electronica music died out. Just pop music almost wiped it away, but thanks to the cheese, we are getting many people on the right track. Dont you agree?

And artists like DJ Sammy are NOT TRANCE, they are very similar or closely associated with eurodance.

1998 into 1999 were the best years for trance and I'm sure that almost all of the old-schoolers around here will agree with me. So I don't really see how you can make that statement.

Shame / Disagreement You think cheese music rips a lot of music off? ...

cheesy fucks.

If you think that cheese electronica music rips off often from other great non-cheese songs, you should know that in rock and rap music, artists steal other producer's music in many ways WAY MORE OFTEN. For rap, they might take just a little annoying sample of a good song, PLAY IT OVER AND OVER and OVER and back it up by rap shit. Truly disgusting stuff.

You all hate DJ Sammy and Ian van Dahl. If you were asked about his music, you would say something along the lines of "His music is cheesy shit, it is a disgrace to the scene". PvD said the exact same thing, because he feels the same way you all do. I can guarantee that every single person who has made a post looking down on PvD's comments has said the same thing, so who are the real hypocrites here? The truth is, the people who have bashed on PvD's "misconduct" really don't care about DJ Sammy or Ian van Dahl's well being. They are doing it because they want to get PvD anyway they can because they resent his popularity. It is really quite sad, especially considering he has been a huge part of the scene for over a decade.

I don't hate PVD, Ian van Dahl or DJ Sammy. So please don't put words in peoples mouths by "assuming" what our intention is. I was just stating my opinion on PVD's comments.

And honestly, I'm sick of the everyday bashing of Ian van Dahl and DJ Sammy, so I guess I am looking out for their well-being. If you don't like their music, that's absolutely fine, I'm not as thrilled about it either as I used to be. But the people who make it known in every single thread, need to get over it. Cheese is what got me into trance, and I'm sure a lot of other people can say the same.

remixes of some IvD tunes have been ok but it is damn true, the cheese has got to stop being the forefront representation of the genre, really class tunes have been released this year and no one knows about em cause of shit like that, I also agree how can one call themselves a "trance addict" and not even know what psy trance is, or not be able to name the largest melodic trance tunes, it is ridiculous, just because you think some epic cheese is the most amazing thing in the world doesnt mean you are an addict, i hit 10 hours a day or so on trance on the norm, massive amounts on the weekends and love every type, i really wish people would learn the genres beyond epic trance before they began posting here, that would make the "omg vocal trance is gay" and posts like that vanish

To defend PVD even further, he has been voted the foreman of trance, and is one of the lead guys in it. His productions of the past have been gifts to the world, the man is a genius when it comes to set construction and spins more genres than DJ sammy fans can name. PvD is not my fav producer, nor my fav DJ but i respect him imensely, shit i have even talked down on a bit of what he does but the man is immensely talented, DJ sammy is ass, there is no argument to be made in any of this, it is fact from one of the people who has molded trance for years.

Its true, but many 'cheezy' tracks are a gateway for others into the more 'underground' sound of electronic dance music.

Could not agree more. I remember the first ITWT's and the magic CD's i got. mmmmm. I really liked the high energy, epic trance.

Are you referring to "Boys of Summer"?....u call the original song by Don Henley shitty?....DJ Sammy and every other producer destroyed that song....

To call a man like Don Henley's music shitty is beyond me...the man was the front man for The Eagles, who will probally go down as 1 of the best rock bands ever to pick up instruments....

You obviously have no background on rock....

And who is PVD to say country and/or western is bad?....the day PVD can sell a 1/4 of the amount of CDs that artists like Garth Brooks or Willie Nelson sell, or the day he can FILL...not half capacity...but FILL stadiums of 50,000 people with music HE personally produced...well then that is the day PVD can talk shit about country and/or western music...

I am not a country fan...but PVD has some nerve to be so prentious to think he is in some way better then those artists that have been selling 10s of millions of CDs on their own with their own material for decades and he has sold what? MAYBE a million and a half CDs in his entire career with half the tracks not even his own productions...please can anyone say elitist?

Well i got brought into trance after a friend left a old twilo cd at my house...and since then i dug more and more underground...so yeah i got started on the mainstream candy...but i will say i will never spin any track that is on that level of music...i dont like candy vocal where they all find 1 million ways to describe love. I do like sum vocals but only real vocals, no more rich high pitch cute girly candy tracks. Just a warning...if u a dj who is about to spin for a mainly asian crowd in colorado...dont...if u spin real trance u'll just empty the club out there...i couldnt stand clubbin out there...i asked any1 out there if they like PvD and the majority replied "who's that?". But club church is nice. I hope one day to save colorado's club scene...who's with me?..lol!..whoa i drifted off subject...well here's my 2 cents...i only have 1 IVD track and its a gabriel & dresdon mix of "will I"(impulse buy)...and Dj Sammy? Id feel more respectable buying britney spears over his albums.

Btw i asked the mojority of the asian crowd...as far as the other crowds go...they try to stay on top of things but music gets out there pretty slow...payce and luv.
