Talking of interveiws with PvD
what do you guys think on these questions and answers to and from PvD
Source : Trance.Nu (Feb 23rd)
Question: What do you think about the fact that people can download all your music as MP3s, instead of buying it?
Answer: The first thing, it's illegal. It's basically stealing. Secondly, just imagine that you and I don't know how many thousand download my music. At some point I'm not able to live on my music anymore and then I have to go get a job besides making my music. That means that I'm producing less music and at the end of the day you won't get any Paul van Dyk music.

here's a little controversial one from one of our subscribers: "Let's suppose that I love your music and have all your tracks on mp3, having downloaded them from the net. I've never bought your music nor do I intend to. Does that piss you off?" What do you think of the whole mp3 thing and how are musicians going to make their money in times to come?
Well, you've basically answered the question, how are musicians going to make their money? That's basically stealing. I don't think if this guy worked in a bakery he would feel comfortable when people come in the morning and just take everything. He basically was working all day, preparing the food. It's not the way it's going to work and I think its also a lack of respect towards the artist you're supposed to like. I always like to have the CD in my hand and see the artwork and stuff. It's not enough for me just to listen to it in a way - but something or someone like this, it is stealing. Someone is making something and someone else is just taking it for free.
My own veiw on MP3 is that it is a great source for promotion.
How many people would not have heard of Paul Van Dyk if it was not for MP3 ?
a lot of Americans for example may not have heard his stuff due to lack of PvD vinyl and CD's in the states but have done so cos of MP3 and then proceded to buy his stuff via the net or got stores to order his stuff in.
yeah a few ppl out there wont have bought any of his stuff but a great majority do and all because they 1st heard on MP3 over the internet. there fore making him more money
MP3 has and will be a Great benefit to our genre of music, to promote it and to get people who would otherwise maybe not know about trance to hear it, to go out and buy it and to go watch ppl like PvD go spin !
Just my thoughts . . .

you hit it right on. no big name dj's rarely ever come here and i would have never even gotten involved in trance music if it wasnt for mp3. hell i probably would have never found this site if it wasnt for mp3. it is great promotion but i can see how dj's would be pissed off for people downloading music and never buying it. hey im happy so i dont really care. they make enough money.
