But that was just a dream, That was just a dream, But that was just a dream, Try, cry, why try? That was just a dream ,Just a dream, just a dream, Dream

so having only 10 overdoses out of 15000 is satisfactory...

ha, nice way to justify drug taking.

I didn't say it was satisfactory. Nor am I trying to justify drug-taking.

I'm wondering what point it proves?

The point it proves is that maybe one perfect day's point on the rave culture isn't so wrong and unrealistic as so many people were quick to say. DRUGS DO KILL. (fingers crossed it doesnt in the reported cases).

From memory, in OPD we see what, five of the main characters go clubbing? And two of them OD and die?

40% is a long way from 0.07%. Nevermind the fact that characters in the movie died, which these people haven't.

So 0.07% of people who go clubbing will overdose on GHB will they??

Whats the percentage of people who smoke that will die of smoking related causes??

Whats the percentage of people that drink that will die of alcohol related causes??

Whats the percentage of people who drive cars that will be killed by a car crash??

As all 3 of these are well and truly over 0.07% should alcohol, cigarettes, and cars be illegal too???

Look at things across the board Paulie - you'll see that just cause something is legal doesnt mean its safe.... I think GHB is a dirty drug which im glad is illegal but look at everything before you condemn the whole scene.......

Why is drug use a negative aspect of the culture? For the most part, I'd suggest it's actually a positive. Or maybe not a positive, but definitely less of a negative than heavy drinking. Even the police have admitted they would prefer a pill crowd than a drinking crowd.

How many fights do you generally see at a club? Very few, and the ones that do occur aren't started by peaking gurners.

Compare that to your average pub. They have those big security blokes for a reason.

You seem to be forgetting the whole drug culture.

What about the dealers? What about the importers? Most importantly, what about the associated crime?

We all see reports in the news about increasing violence and gang activity in Sydney. Do you think that this has anything to do with drugs? It is highly probable that it does.

I know that there are many different types of drugs, and i would not categorise marijuana in the same class as heroin or cocaine.

Similarly, i don't think that ecstacy is in the same class as the 'harder' drugs like heroin.

The act of drug-dealing and the associated crime (money laundering, violence, gang activity etc) is a huge social problem today.

Just a thought.....

Clearly I'm referring to the culture of drug use that revolves around nightclubs, ie MDMA, marijuana and to a lesser extent speed. The associated social costs with these drugs is far far less than with harder drugs like heroin.

That arguement has been done to death, and it doesnt even stick. Can you die from 1 cigarette alone? or 1 drink alone? and bringing car crashes into it? wtf? You die from repeated use (or over use in alcohols case) of the above drugs, measured over decades. They arnt dangerous to the point of 1 cigarette could be laced with a lethal substance, or have too much of the drug in it, or whatever.

Seriously, think about an arguement before you try and make it.

Ive said it before, and while it wont happen, drugs should be made and distributed by the government. They control the product from creation to use, they tax the fuck out of it, and then sell it at to the public in responsible doses. Distribution would need to be controlled somehow to make sure people dont buy too much. It would more than likely still come cheaper than the current stuff and it would eliminate any black market for it as long as the product was as good as the one of the street. Penalties for making, smuggling, and illegally distributing drugs would need to be increased to further discourage people.

Now that ive written that paragraph, im sure that people will make the correlation between the cigarette and alcohol problems we have now to the drug problems this could create. As i said distribution would somehow need to be controlled. Specifics? I dont have any, but im not john howard, and this is just tranceaddict.

Im also sure people will disagree and call me a dirty junky. I dont take drugs, but feel free to disagree all you want.

Did you know that tabbaco kills more people per year then AIDS, alcohol, car crashes, murder, house fires, terrorism, and every other single drug combined?
