Well I think it's because people are afraid to voice their opinions, because the "connosseurs" admire all this, and the "connossuers" in turn do that because DJ's like Sasha and Digweed are super-popular.

For example when Digweed releases a stinking piece of shit, these "connosseurs" sniff in delight, a pleasurable smile appears on their faces, and they exclaim "Ah!.. What a stylish palette of colors and sounds, skillfully interspersed with the subtle yet provocative hints of texture... a lush, deeply-layered performance, at once soothing and captivating..."

Nobody is actually brave enough to come out and declare in the open, "This is SHIT." Everybody is riding on this pretense and fame and hype surrounding these super-popular DJ's.

Eugene, I totally agree with you, couldn't have said it any better.

"a pleasurable smile appears on their faces, and they exclaim "Ah!.. What a stylish palette of colors and sounds, skillfully interspersed with the subtle yet provocative hints of texture... a lush, deeply-layered performance, at once soothing and captivating..."

what kind of b*llsh*t is this? just goes to show how ingnorantly convincable people can be.

GU:19

I have to agree with Patticus here....even though I'm a huge Digweed and progressive fan. Minus a few outstanding tracks, especially Love in Traffic, it was a piece o' shit.

If you want my opinion, the second best GU CD (that I've heard) besides GU:13 would be Gu:17 - Danny Tenaglia in London. There's something about that CD set that just touches that chord inside of me.

You guys are right in that someone like Digweed is so HUGE, that he could spin pretty much anything, and people will eat it up, just cause it is digweed.

But...

He is using the position he is in, to push the boundaries of what people have done with this music, and ALOT of people are going to hate it, if they truly listen to it, because it's different, and particular aspects may not appeal to certain people.

I for one know people that LOVE Digweed, and hated 019, before they knew who it was, haha, now that's bullshit.

Sometimes, he is boring. Very very very boring. The homelands set didn't really progress, it just stayed on a little boring plateau. However, (here comes my defense of GU019), this CD is very very ambitious. The sound is constantly evolving, morphing, changing, track selection is outstanding. He has a number of running themes, it is very hard stuff to listen to though.

Say what you want...if you feel like listening to the same damn sound all the time, then don't listen. But without people like him, breaking ground for the future of trance/house/progressive, we'd still be listening to friggin acid house and hardcore.

No offense fien, GU017 is nice, but I think Tenaglia is some bullshit once in a while, too many different genres. I always hear, "He's so good, he can mix tribal house, into zero-beat chanting!"

Super, good for him. Same reason there is no such thing as an all in one action/comedy/horror/drama movie.

Done Ranting.

p.s. thanks tu_face

That's funny, cuz currently, I prefer CD 1 of Digweed's GU Sydney. Personally, I think it has much better flow than CD 2, altho I just haven't listened to CD 2 as often. I'll have to give it some more listens...
