For once i would have to say that that article was almost bang on. but as for his guide to electronic music.... Complete and utter rubbish..... sure he can name the genres but he cant pick examples to save himself.

Incredibly, the only accurate thing about the guide, in my opinion is the sample selection (yes, including the "not trance" part, although I like that "Exhale" tune), and that's only because he didn't bother being technical

100 % agreed - about his general comments on tiesto, i wouldn't waste money on that garbage (the dvd), but i'll take his word that the dvd is ghey/pointless (as expected).

I find it amusing how people who support Tiesto don't seem to understand people can disagree. All they can say is "I don't care what that tool has to say," when they clearly do if they're posting in a thread about it.

I mean, I like Paul van Dyk, but that doesn't mean I'm going to call names everyone who disagrees, and say I don't give a crap what they think. All that would do is hurt my case and make me look like a mindless sheep, which it certainly does for Tiesto.

And let's not forget that rolleyes smilies instantly make a post more important and credible.

(Yeah, I'm really being a bitch lately. Maybe I need more sleep...)

my comment to this ishkur dudes article is that he might have got some points in it, but i cant take him seriously when he actually thinks that the whole event lasted 3hrs and mixed 6 tracks and then stopped and that he thinkt tiesto plays euro trance and that he claims that tiesto is not a dj because he is a "rock star"..

he got one thing right though:

There is an MC. He is totally and completely unnecessary. He praises Tiesto shamelessly, high-fiving him and cheering on the crowd like an idiot. Halfway through the set he shouts, "This is DJ Tiesto!" Oh! Have we magically forgotten who that is in the middle of the ridiculously huge stage with twirling lightning rods surrounding it?

Ishkur's review made me wonder when did the "dance" in electronic dance music disappear. Dancing has all but disappeared in many big name DJs events. In it's place is a sea of people standing, looking, listening in front of the DJ booth. What does that sound like? A rock concert. Maybe I have it all wrong but isn't a DJ suppose to help people party and not steal the show? Between overprice DJ fees and promoters packing a venue, people can't seem to find the room to dance and frankly it sucks.

John Lennon banged on the piano with his elbows like a retarded monkey, and the crowd screamed in approval. Tiesto also possesses this awesome power. He could take a dump on the tables and the people would think it's the greatest song ever."

lmao! I love this guys style. Although obviously a bit clueless about Electronica in general, I find myself agreeing with almost everything he has to say in this review; and love the way he puts his point of view across.

Interesting article. From the sounds of it, it'd be a shitty DVD.

I've read his Electronic Music Guide too, and he definitely has bias against any kind of uplifting trance. He compares PvD - For an Angel to Ian van Dahl - Castles in the Sky. I mean, C'MON!

Anyways, I've been listening to Tiesto since In Search of Sunrise 1, when he was just another semi-popular Dutch DJ. Since he has gained momentum in the trance scene to become it's most visible proponent (Voted #1 In DJ Mag, etc.), there have been this explosion of LOVE/HATE threads on TA about Tiesto.

Whether or not DJ Tiesto has ascended to Rock Star status and anoyingly abuses this is up to debate.

But the fact is that Tiesto has produced dozens of songs and mixed hundreds of sets that are loved by thousands of people.

So if you don't like him, just turn it off. I hate these people who make it their goal to slander Tiesto, PvD, Oakenfold, and any other Huge DJ who is peaking. It's just pointless, because your only preaching to the choir (people who already don't like Tiesto).
