Generalizing that trance is only/mostly for kidz is silly

infact those ravers don't even listen to that much of trance instead they preffer hardstyle and techno, anyways ... and I don't see anything wrong with those kidz anyways

all music is good, i love trance and i love prog

make love not war lol

peace

edit ***

and ofcourse add techno to the list

its funny how so many threads get jacked by the prog vs trance debate... hehe.. personally i started with trance, slowly moved to prog via Gabriel & Dresden (thank you god for these two) and now im pretty much a house fan, breaks, jungle, techno... everything... even dare i say it... the occasional hardcore....

hehehe...

but i still love trance, just i have to share with other genres now that my interests are more far and reaching...

about TOTA... i remember when I first joined, I have never experienced a trance party... if it wasnt for TOTA i wouldnt have all the experiences i have to look back on... first party... Tiesto way back in december 2002, first TA I met was RJ at Timothy Coffee Pub for the pre-meetup, met alot of cool TA's since then, still havent been to a System Tranceaddict party, so many more TA's I have yet to meet.. I moved to Montreal for school, switched over to MTLTA... lemme tell you.. its just not the same vibe as the TOTA's... seriously... this is the coolest forum EVAR... you can join, attend a TA party, meet tons of cool people....

TOTA rulez....

i really believe that progressive is an intelligent form of electronic music. whether its breaks, house or even trance. the reality is a lot of people cant be bothered to actaully "LISTEN" to the music & its complexity. all they want is cheesy catchy tunes that are fun which is fine.....but to say that progressive is sleeping music....well thats

progressive as a format (i.e. progressive trance) is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more complex, intense & a lot more BRILLIANT than trance trance thats for sure. look @ old rock groups....progressive rock groups who's music speaks to us and tells us each a different story, an eyeopener if you may unlike that cheesy/alternative rock where what you hear in the lyrics is what you get...simple, basic, no brainer music!

anyway, thats my take between the two genres....

I wouldn't say that.....I am about 2 months into actually posting on TA, and I have already met several TA members.....and I want to meet more of you

I think it is more of a feeling like you are intruding when you are a nOOb, but thats just IMO.

See you all at PVD!!!

Complex music does not always make good music - that I am sure you will agree with me on.

And just as you can pull "unintelligent" trance records out of your bag, I could pull "unintelligent" prog, house, breaks out of mine.

Although I "get" what you're trying to say, and agree with it on some levels, the same concepts (as far as complexity, depth and intelligence) should be applied across all genres (because that is what makes good music).

The broad generalizations (re: progressive / trance) you've made aren't very fair/unbiased IMO.

Seconded, only its been less than a month for me.

All the TA's I've met have been very welcoming and generally cool people. Without them, clubbing wouldn't be the same.

TA sort of works in cycles. sometimes there's a lot of interesting dialogue sometimes it's all flames, sometimes it's other annoying BS.

right now it pretty much sucks and i hardly post and am reading the board less and less. i've met some incredible ppl from here and i don't consider them "TA friends" just regular friends.

there is a tight-knit group of friends on this board, but i really don't think that means it's cliquey- our crew is made up of all differnt types of ppl and everyone is incredibly welcoming of new ppl if they treat others w/ a relative degree of kindness. there really isn't much of a snarky agresssive mentatlity to new ppl on this board. I don't think there will ever be anything to worry about in regards to making this board feel unapproachable. before i started posting i was admittedly a little nervous (this was back when there were only a few girls that actively posted too).

and yes a lot of us aren't such huge fans of epic trance anymore. tastes often change. I still like a lot of trance that I liked when i began getting into the scene, but there are others types EDM that i like now that i was not capable of understanding in the past (just b/c I wasn't that familar w/ many of teh sounds heard in EDM) my tastes now encompass a lot more. IMO staright up trance is a lot more accessable- the melodies the vocals- it doesn't mean that it's for kids or that only ppl that dig cheesy tunes can appreciate it,in fact there are many ppl on this board who like full on trance who (A) know their shit and (B) who I totally respect- i certainly don't see their musical tastes as not evolved.
