I have met many happy people that grew up in Germany. It is stereostypical to say they are all unhappy, just because of thier childhoods. People grow up in unhappy places all over the world, yet still could manage to put a smile on thier faces to spin music they love infront of thousands of excited fans screaming thier name. He makes a sick amount of money per hour, money that us ticket buyers help pay for, so he could be a little more pleasant. It is his job, and I am sure people who work at mcdonalds aren't always happy at work, but they smile and make the best of it anyway.

I have only seen the guy for two hours, so basically I don't get his personality yet. Maybe he is grinning on the inside?? But saying it's ok for him to be miserable because he grew up in Germany, that is not an excuse...

Glad you had fun. I agree with you about PVD though, when I saw him at KH last time he looked like he didn't wanna be there either.

Ha that wasn't you? Sorry about that. I was positive this guy told me he was Tordon. Well whatever his TA name may be, he was a real hoot !!

Thumbs down

I'm afraid I have to dissent with the masses and quite honestly I was surprised to read all the positive responses to the night. While I enjoyed aspects of the night, I personally found last night was his worst set I've ever witnessed in my 6 PVD parties.
I thought the track selection was weak and when he finally started stringing together some good tunes near the end, he got off! It just wasn't hard enough for my liking.

Nice crowd however, and I did like the added bonus of not smelling like smoke when I got home.

PS. Working the next morning blows.

I had a really special night...I was so caught up in the music that I (almost) didn't notice what my heels were doing to my feet. Would've been an 11/10 had I planned a different outfit...grrrrr...
I wasn't familiar with most of the tracks and I'n still trying to find a better tracklisting...Can anyone help me out?
Mr. Van Dyke just seemed so incredibly focused. It's nice not seeing a DJ who goes out there trying to appear Godly-all throwing their hands up in the air. He knew that we worshipped him, and so he didn't need the theatrics (not naming any names here).

Going home smelling like someone elses perfume or B.O is much worse. I don't even want to talk about what I smelled on the dancefloor. PLEASE END THIS STUPID BANNNNNNNN

That is an interesting way to look at it, and yes he did look very focused. Unhappily focused. I did like that about him, how he didn't try and act god like, he just made his music up there, and we could all repsond to it on our own.

If you look at the pics posted, StarSearcher has a great one of him smiling as he's spinning

My pics also show him with a smile on his face as he signs autographs for his fans

Ya I see a few smiles here and there, and that is good to see. Overall I just got the impression he was unhappy at the time, and so did a few others. It's just an observation, maybe I am used to overly happy Armin?? Jumping around with his arms in the air, with a huge smile on his face the entire time? When I am watching a DJ spin, if they are excited and energetic about thier music, I can't help but to act the same.

Funny- That was probably the happiest I've ever seen Paul. He's much more reserved and untouchable than most DJ's out there. The 1st time I saw him, I hated him, cuz he only looked up at the crowd twice the entire time, and he never smiled once. That really put me off him for a while. I've since learned to expect that from him, and if he's in a better mood than that, then it's a treat.

PVD was alright, played bangin tunes, but i would have liked it if he played a bit more of his own stuff.

he played Naranja, which i really liked, cant get enough of that song.

IMO, ferry on march 13th @ is still the party of the year to me

I left @ 4am... anyone stay till the end/know how long it went till?

OK my review is really late....I had to really ponder this one.

I'll have to agree with High on PSI about this one. Even though I'd rather be saying differently. I was somewhat disappointed, it just wasn't hard enuf for me. Atleast the tracks got better at the end but it left me hanging for more. I really wanted to hear him (not mark) play "for an Angel" at the end. But "Crush" well that threw me off--a bit. PVD not acting Godly on stage was good and---> I could swear I saw him smile a few times (or maybe the drinks helped).
But the fuckup on his very first mix -> not good. His equip should have been setup rather than leaving it for the end. Prolly the Bpmtv interviewer made him late (damn them...the channel had potential, now it just SUCs since they hooked up with that dink MC Mario). Even though I gave up a vacation day for PVD, the music was still good and it wasn't as packed---so I'm still counting this as good times.

PVD - 7/10
Crowd NrG- 8/10
Guv's overcrowding - 8/10

Ferry....now that was better than good times---it was F^ckin amazing IMO!!! And all I drank was water that night. hehehe

Would of liked to have met Starsearcher (oh well, maybe Wemf--if your going?) but mostly I parked myself at the sidelines this time. FuZion intro'd the most awesome people. Very Very Cool. To the guy and gal that stayed till the end (you know who you are)....It was a pleasure. I realize now after the sleep, how over analytical I must have sounded --- what can I say, the shit always does that to me

I spotted RJ, Ken, and Goodnet first, then Barry, Ortemy, Cuzo and his gf, the_broad, tatgirl and wurm. Later in the night I met Trickdadde and his gf, magnetonium, NeonAlien, and Myway. Nice to see all of you, and hope to see you all again sometime soon.

Hi. This is Myway. I was thrilled to meet some of TOTAs at

PvD's gig.(PartEgurl)I had been to the Guv for Ferry corsten in

march but there was any chance to back to the Guv awhile until PvD.

PvD was my answer. He revitalized me by his vibe. I had many

obstacles before getting to the Guv but it was proud of me to

overcome difficulties. Among his tracks I liked Naranja,Bilingual,

Voodoo People and Aftershock. From Mark Oliver's tracks , I liked

It's just won't do and Praiseworthy song.My highlights of the

night were an autograph from PvD and Dancing with TOTAs. I couldn't

get an autograph from PvD when I attended to his gig @ Roxy, NYC

but I was luckier in TO than NYC!!! In addition, some of

TOTAs who I met at the Guv were amazing people. They were

friendly and very passionate about rhythms. I love you guys and I

wish I can clubbing with you guys at clubs in TO again. Well, My

summer highlight(PvD) finished. I am not sure about that I can catch

more gigs later in TO rest of this summer because I will be in Korea

after first week of July. I will be in Korea until end of august. I

hope to see Ferry Corsten with Heineken thirst in Seoul around

August. Well. Thank you all and PvD!!!!!
