Got there around 3:40, just as Markus was playing Satellite (Coldharbour Remix), and danced for a while. I took a walk to find a water fountain, because I didn't want to shell out money for overpriced water, and found one at Coco Walk.
I came back just as Motorcycle was starting (I didn't think they would be on that early). I also thought that it would be a bit more "live," rather than just Jes singing over a dub, even though it was a fine performance. Deep Breathe Love was a bit too chill for me, but Imagination sounded great. As The Rush Comes was beautiful as always, but the track has gotten really tired at this point. I didn't really like Jes' attempt at live vocal edits, either.
Acosta played a decent hard trance set, but I personally can't stand his personality at the booth. It always feels to me like he's waving his arms saying "look at me!" rather than caring about the set he's spinning.
I said hello to Arturo, since I didn't know what anyone else looked like, but I don't think he had a clue who I was. Probably happens a lot with him.
No ATB. "Sick." Unfortunate coincidence or premeditated effort to avoid his nemesis? The plot thickens!
I think just about everything about John Secada has been said already. I really have no respect for people who lip-sync, and I'm almost positive he did. I went and sat down under the trees for a little while until Paul started.
As many others have already said, Paul's set was simply amazing, and renewed my faith in his abilities. I'm very pleased with the harder sound he decided to take. Traffic devastated once again, but it was merely a prelude to 45 minutes of hard and techy trance that tore the crowd to pieces. I missed his Sensation set, but I really need to hear it so I can identify some of the track he played in Miami.
But there was still a theme of epic trance. I absolutely loved hearing Wir Sind Wir live; the track is well worthy of Paul's production skills, and carries an emotional, meaningful tone. Nothing But You as the last track was sort of cheap, but it worked and is still nice to hear live. Mindcircus (Original Mix) as the encore, however, was very classy and fitting.
Anyone want to start a tracklist?
