The thing with country music is you need to be in the proper setting to get into it. For example, I find it very hard to enjoy country music in the urban areas and in town where I live. You almost need to live in the rural farmlands or way out somewhere remote like that. My grandma lives on a farm and when I would go down there, I'd listen to a little country music and I seemed to enjoy it better out there. Not that I'm a hardcore country fan, because I'm not. I like the odd song here and there, but I thought I'd just share that.

my 2 cents (basically worth nothing anywhere in the world)

I find elitist stuff always revolves around "what's best?"... it's like a status thing: "music isn't worthy of being loved (or liked, or whatever u wanna say) unless it's meaningful". I've found myself doing that a few times in the various music's I've been into, but it's always meant I'm losing interest in the music and getting more interested in my opinion of it...

Anyway, if I like something, what's the point in not liking it just cuz someone said "it sucks"? or vice versa? One of the things I REALLY love (or like, or whatever u wanna say) about Trance and most EDM is that the dancefloor has the final say for me... if it works, I just KNOW it, regardless of my "opinion".

That said, I gotta admit I usually listen to most Trance when working... but even then I'm listening more with my body than my ears, unlike most music. that sure looks stupid as i re-read it; oh well...

Some elitists would probably say they're just selective... hmmm... "selective" is one word for those who criticise people's taste in music... but there are others.

ps ~ i remember some jazz guy saying "i can't hear this note"... wasn't meaning it was bad note, just that he couldn't put it in context of the melody... i think that's how i am with most country and folk... i just can't hear it, even tho others have no problem with it.
