The ignorance in here can be scary sometimes

Basically, read what Renegade and Romp said.

I can't understand how people can vote for him, or even believe a word that comes out of his mouth. He craps on about "fiscal responsibility" and "steady government", while simultaneously reaching into his pocket and passing out billions (!) in election year bribes.

Do some basic research, ie not just what you heard on Channel Seven or read in the Daily Telegraph, and you'll be startled to realise that Howard has promised far more in pork-barrel promises to marginal seats than Labor has.

I'm not going to get involved in debate because debating politics is extremely pointless and frustrating. Primarily because other peoples opinions are wrong.

All I've got to contribute is John Howard getting a pickled onion up the date.

I am a BIG lover of democracy and as such am an advocate for healthy debate.

One of the beautiful things about democracy is that it allows us to be entitled to our own opinions, and our opinions should each be worth as much as one anothers.

People can vote or like who they want for absolutley what ever they want.

I agree with so much of what renegade says and the others. I agree the war on Iraq was wrong, I like labours education and medicare policy better, I dont know what the kyoto policy is but from what I hear Johnny has fucked it up. But for my own resons I will still vote liberal.

But let me make this clear for this is a ceritifed FACT!..

Webmeister or anyone else has no right to label me or any other "ignorant" for voting johnny or liberal or anyone, just as I have no right to do the same to labour voters.

I have a democratic right to vote for who I choose and have my vote justified by the simple fact that it's MY vote. I can vote Johnny just because Pink helmet thinks he's cute or I like his funky eyebrows and it's a valid vote and opinion.

So stop with the insults becasue we don't vote who u do...this goes to both sides. Feel free to try to educate me on your view ( as renegade did so well!) I always listen and read with an open mind, but do not label me ignorant or anything else becasue I don't commit to your stance on a issue. Otherwise democracy stops as soon as u do.

Woah. I wasn't having a go at you, or anyone else who's expressed an opinion in this thread.

I'm suggesting that people who just parrot what they've heard on television or read in the papers and use that as their insight should really do some actual research and be prepared to think for themselves

The biggest challenge we face as a country is apathy.

Sorry webbby, i agree with u on doing a little research and didn't mean it to come across a comment to you directly, but to both sides of the debate who sit their slinging insults because they don't agree with each other.

What everyone has to remember is that even the worst things in our lives have a good outcome for someone else, it's sad but true.

For example One country goes to war and people are killed but suddenly there are jobs making weapons and supplies and jobs to be filled by to replace those that have died ( it's a horrible fact of life I know and I dont like it but thats the way it goes.) This is why there is no "right" or "wrong vote, simply the vote that suits u best.

Different ppl place different emphasis on certain issues eg interest rates, security, refugees, legalizing e as some mentioned in another thread. I dont like a few of the Libs policies, I dont much care for howard, and I dont like some of the things liberal have done, but those things that i place emphasis on liberal appeals to more.
