Heh, sandstorm you should have replaced 'worst' with 'least favourite' in the thread title; it would have saved a hell of a lot of complaining. For some reason, people never have problems relating 'best' to 'favourite' in threads like this, but can never acknowledge the relation at the other end of the scale?

It's no more unnecessary than the '2004 Best Producer/Remixer' thread, it's just asking for opinions, like 90% of the threads here.

Geez get over it...

01. Perry O'neil
02. Markus Shulz

Few more I dont get on with but those two really annoy me, bland bland bland :-/

Please look at the work of the following:

10. Max Graham

9. Palava

8. Nikola Gala

7. Kyau vs. Albert

6. Powerplant

5. Marc Van Linden

4. Ozgur Can

3. Randy Katana

2. Sasha

1. John Askew

All these producers are in my top 10 for 2004. Each of these producers make tracks which sound different. In my opinion, they are the true producers. For example, listen to Involver or any Sasha track. He does not recycle his productions. He creates art and this is why I respect him. Now listen to Askew. Yes his kicks are the same but melodies of each of his tracks are different and original. Ozgur Can experiments and creates art in each of his productions.

Arturo I will use an example you might be more familiar with understanding; Nu Nrg. Each of Nu nrg's tracks are different. Free Fall is very different from Connective etc. They try to be artists. They try to do thing different. They are not trying to monopolize a particular sound and release as many tracks around that sound. That, in my opinion, is what the likes of Markus Schulz and Probspot are doing in 2004. This is good for business but bad for music.

Now go get your Paul Van Dyk cds or vinyls.

Listen to Paul Van Dyk - Nothing But You, does that track sound like Time of Our Lives or Wir Sind Wir? No. Alot of PVD's work is unique and artistic. Some people like it others hate it. But it’s different each time. Paul Van Dyk is an artist in the production studio and behind the decks.

Listen to Schulz or Probspot and it’s the exact same shit over and over. You don't need to have special listening skills to realize this. It's very simple.

I know you work for GDJB and you admire Markus Schulz, as heard in your imitation mixes, so it can be hard to be objective. Please don't take it personally but rather as my opinion.

P.S.

Please don't undertake an effort to ban me from TA now that I have expressed a difference in opinion in regard to our musical interest and taste.

Ciao

indeed, there lies truth in this :-P

anyways, here's my list of wellknown producers that has got a lot of credit this year, which they certainly dont earn

· above&beyond
· kyau vs albert
· smith and pledger

basically, these three guys defines the most boring "trance" i know of

· thrillseekers (used to be good, this year only santa cruz has been keeping his old standard)
· lange (has his times in the past, but i've lost faith in him)
· ferry corsten (amazing back in the days but went crap)
· tiësto (same as above)
· solar stone (i love em, but not this year )
· probspot (as so many guys mentioned, very overrated .. tv dinner/timeless was nice though)
· matt darey (only crap this year)
· robert nickson (one-hit-wonder-recycler)
· pulser (let's hope cloudwalking 2006 and 2007 turns out better, eh)

as for dumonde, they've been pretty much bashed all year anyways :-P

i realise that keeping up a good standard after all these years must be quite hard.. well, hope to see them rise again (dj sammy quote btw, all those of you that still think dj sammy jokes are funny, laugh here)

As usual, these threads never work out, and the elitists rule all!
Won't even bother posting anything on topic in this thread. Nobody should.

...

OK, one thing that might be considered on topic. How on earth is Vadim Zhukov one of the worst producers this year?

Because GOD FORBID they should have their opinion...

I've only heard two Vadim Zhukov tunes but going by those two I agree with you... he seems quite a good producer. Exit was a little on the dull side maybe but it was well made, prefer it to most music in that style. Mission 7 I loved.
