I have a friend who loves hardtrance, my girlfriend sorta: "likes it" and the rest of them, they're all urban/pop-freakz. (That doesn't include another friend who likes futurepop, though)

Although I have some friends who like it, I myself experience Trance in a much different way then them (I'm really convinced of that!) That's the reason why they don't feel the need to:

A lot of people like trance, but only the cheesy top-40 epic-trance and classic anthems, like Silence and Children. I can get away with playing some pretty good stuff if I have control of the stereo, but anything a bit deeper and lacking a massive hook gets moaned at.

Yeah. I mean, you're all saying that trance is sooo underground, yet all you do is listen to ASOT/GDJB, so really, you end up hearing the same "ch00nz" as everyone else in the trance community, just like with pop music.

There's an endless archive of EDM on www.discogs.com, as I'm sure you all know. Look through that, and listen to samples of whatever you can find in other places.

I won't go into this further, like I did in the McProg thread. Just think about what you're saying here.

Nothing fucks me off more than a fan that thinks a DJ can do no wrong. There is a lot of good music out there. How some people can be so easily pleased is beyond my comprehension.

Not many of my mates liked trance until i got them hooked on it, but i have met loads of people who are into it just as much as i am, through working, clubbing, and just generally contacting other people into the same stuff. The trance scene does seem very small at the moment, but those who are into it, tend to be very much into it from my experience. i think as the world gets more and more technology orientated, this kinda music will pick up a bit more.

yeah i love some of the experimental and progressive rock thats still around, and some older stuff like genesis and focus, has some really realy interesting melodies and beats! all sorts of twisted but amazing time and key signatures which still somehow work out. Genesis - Dance on a volcano, perfect example. also Focus - Hocus Pocus! woooo!

All of my friends except my buddy are not into trance. Upon expectations, they're always into pop, rock or rnb. So it's only my buddy and me who's madly into trance, which we truely appreciate it. I do agree that most ppl think of trance as techno. Just hate that! It's simply ridiculous!

Ok, btw.. as i'm new in the forum, here's some really silly questions but i hope u guys enlighten me yeah...?

1st of all, what does 'EDM' means?
2ndly, what does 'cheese' means? (always see u guys using that word)

Thanx in advance!

Many thanks, krivi. Appreciate that.

Alright, it seems like there's a certain level of mutual understanding here in the forum where ppl from all over the world meet and talk about 'Trance'. I better learn and experience fast!
