but anyways, NYU isn't that bad for financial aid. in fact, nearly all of my friends receive some sort of financial aid from them. if its worth it to u later, doesn't matter too much about the cost of the school. u can always pay back loans later... if they can accept a dumbass like, me then anyone's got a chance

also, i'm surprised no one has mentioned Rutgers at all. true its in new jersey, but its a 40 minute train ride away and its a pretty damn good state school. or if u go to rutgers newark thats even closer (personally i wouldn't go to ru newark... hehe)

another thing, not trying to sound negative or anything, but don't u think its kinda late to be applying to the colleges u want to get into? if u were seriously trying to get into a college. wouldn't u have already applied early, or sent out your applications by now? when i was applying to schools, i didn't even apply early anywhere but my apps. were done by mid. november. all i'm saying is, better get urs done quick!!
