First off, I do feel bad for Ashlee, not just because her voice is downright bad, but because as someone said earlier, the music producers and RIAA are just chewing her up for the time being and will only spit her out when they damn well feel like it (which is going to likely be pretty soon). I make very few exceptions for any celeb to wave the "victim" card, but I will concede that she might just be one of those rare exceptions. But just to a certain extent - she should know damn well just how fucking bad her voice is.
But this really brings me to a more larger point at hand - how many of you actually believe that today's "pop" music has any fucking talent whatsoever? And let me first state right out that I'm not fan of Pop music/top 40's music, nor will I likely ever be. However, I have no problems acknowledging talent, originality, a great voice, or a combination of all three when I hear it, regardless of the music genre. And the bottom line is I haven’t seen a lick of it for years in the Pop music genre one bit (well, at least in general – a few surprises here and there exist).
Why is that? Why is it that the only thing that seems to come out of fucking MTV and the radio is either repetitive urban soul music (though admittedly the singers are very talented), extremely repetitive rap music with butts, tits and pimp-my-fucking-ride-mobiles, or terribly untalented “Pop” music singers that absolutely SUCK singing live and must resort to a thousand or so takes on just one song because they are abso-fucking-lutely horrible to begin with and refuse to believe that they do, in fact, truly suck?
Okay, maybe it’s rhetorical, because the obvious answer is the music producers and the RIAA. I really don’t understand it, or perhaps I do and just don’t want to believe the sex/drugs/youth appeal to the adolescent listeners and watchers. It fucking sucks, because I’ve heard some incredible talent from numerous live local bands that can’t even get their foot in the industry door. Or what’s worse, there’s bands out there that HAVE actually gotten their collective foots in the doors, signed on labels, but have been willfully held back by the recording industry to make way for the fucking repetitive shit and screeching Ashlee Simpson voices that are supposedly making more $.
But is it worth it you fucking piece of shit music industry? Is it worth having this god-awful shrill played over and over to the point of nausea that supersedes actual talent just waiting to bash down your fucking door for the entire world to hear?
I need more coffee. I can’t get rid of this fucking headache.
