Whoa ... this is a very mean response. I am sure he doesn't mean all Muslims are bad. There is extremism and violence on both sides of the Palestinian/Israeli conflict, but it will not end until both sides decide that further violence will not improve the situation. How long will it take those warring peoples to realize that? Forget the losses, and immediately start rebuilding and healing, thats what I say.
As for Russia and the Chechen conflict - you haven't been there, you dont know the real situation and who's right and wrong. But I lived near Chechnya for a number of years, and I've seen a lot and the Russians are not the main source of suffering in the region. First of all, there is a large number of Chechens, who even before the 1994 war were involved in drug trafficking, kidnappings, murder, counterfeiting, etc, living off the poverty and weakness of the system after the Soviet collapse. Lawlessness ruled and still rules the central Caucasus since early 1990s. Mafia and armed militant gangs control the region, and simply ignore/co-ordinate with Russian military.
A neighbour that lived in our complex in my city of Sochi ,Russia got kidnapped in 1986 at a train station by Chechens and taken to work at their wountain village as a slave. Nearly 10 years later he escaped when Russians bombed the village and came back to tell the terrifying story of how he was TREATED LIKE A DOG, ALWAYS CHAINED, LIVING A LIFE OF A SLAVE, BEING SPIT UPON AND CALLED A RUSSIAN DOG. Not even mentioning the executions and dead/tortured Russian soldiers he'd seen during the first war while he was still a "slave".
There is a number of Arabic born and raised fighers alongside the ranks of Chechens whose experience makes them very cold and heartless fighters who kill mercilessly, both their own Chechens and Russians - roaming nearby Russian cities for loot and slave labour. What do you expect the Russian forces to do? They in return bomb/destroy the places the fighters use, thus mostly hurting and killing innocent civilians in process. But neither side cares - you either join whoever's side or be at either side's mercy. The country has been badly ransacked over the past 10 years by the constant war, and death, misery, hopelessness, crime rule the country. Death is the most successful industry there. It's worse than you think.
There are very few media people there as journalists are a favourite kidnapping choice. If you cross into Chechnya, you are on your own. Nobody will help you, and nobody is on your side.
Its a long story, but there is no place on Earth more desolate and worse than Chechnya. And its everybody fault. I mean everybody's - the international community for not giving a rats ass about the conflict between Chechens and Russians (that has been since the 1815), the Russians for refusing peace negotiations and using excessive and brutal force in the region - also lacking the funds and proper military equipment/leadeship to improve, Chechen militants who would do anything to inflict fear, heavy casualties and anger to Russians and any sympathetic Chechens - the militants also want to seep the war throughout the volative Caucasus region, already marred by violent separation, division and unfair resettlement of countless ethnic minorities and feuds over many years. No wonder why Beslan was chosen - its a center of a decades old territorial and religious dispute between Ingush and Ossetian nationals.
Remember the Nagorny Karabakh incident in the early 1990s between ethnic Armenians living inside Azerbaidjan? During Soviet Union, many ethnic tribes in Caucasus lived together, and onced it collapsed, the borders were not drawn up correctly, and could not be done in any way to satisfy everyone, and strong nationalistic feelings erupted into conflict. Bla bla bla ... long story ...
