Yet, so many ppl love him more, and so many ppl have started appreciating trance becasue of him.

This is all clearly evident on TA.

Thanks for the laugh

He has gained so many fans because he is the #1 DJ in the world and these days teeny boppers will follow anything.

He is overrated to the max and had a lot less fans when he used to produce, remix and DJ something awesome. New style pfff if that's a new style I hope that no DJ heads down that path.

Who says a lot of people aren't listening to trance? Over the last 2 or so years the top 40 charts from around here have been populated by many trance DJs and still are. Many say trance was at it's peak before that time. Possibly in some other countries, but from where I am there wouldn't be a trance song caught dead on the charts.

One thing I notice when people discuss music is this. People ask each other,"what do you like to listen to? Then you get the...Green Days, Offspring, 50 Cent or whatever. When you get to the guy who likes trance, he/she says I like Trance. He doesn't say he likes Motorcycle, or Van Buuren or Van Dyk or tiesto.

Seems like trance to the general population, the non trance-addicts is a separate entity, like just another band. Which kinda sucks but u can only discuss those artists and their styles with other trance fans.

I liked EDM since the late 90's. I officially started liking trance in about late 2003. I heard a lot when I lived in Pougkeepsie for a few years, but I considered it still techno back then.
Ever since I joined TA, trance became the new word in my volcabulary of music.
Nowadays, I've been hearing trance tunes from as early as 98 for the first time and every time I listen to one, I get goosebumps every time.
Ofcourse, now in 05, I've been going to other genres, but I'll never put down history.

Abhay: An elitist is someone who thinks s/he is greater than everyone because of something they do.

Well I have been out of the loop lately I guess I can say because I went back to listening to the roots of trance and progressive music. If nobody listens to trance anymore, as the topic starter suggests, then what genre are people listening to? Progressive house?

Or something they know ie. when you get the name of a song wrong or a remix, label, etc. and all of a sudden you know nothing and should leave.

if you think about it, all the genres sound the same, this is the way it is, otherwise you would not be able to distinguish what type of music is played. If techno or proggy is played you can tell straight way that it is teckno or progressive is played. Do you catch my drift. This is why it's called genres-because of specific structure and soundings. Many people are more into progressive and tribal nowadays because it's a new sound to them, because it's a new trend in music- but give it time and in a few years, IMHO, people on EDM forums will be bashing progressive, tribal and the likes etc because they will get bored with the structure of the genres and its sound...so,there you go. I have got a point here aint I

HOoray, I know what an elitist is now...

Umm, i think there's confusion over my last post...

All i said was, that whenever you have a changing style, some people will drop out, and some ppl will like it, and join up...

That's why it seems there's always more and more ppl starting trance. But on the other hand, it seems like more and more ppl are starting to dislike it.... BECAUSE THE SYLE IS CONSTANTLY CHANGING...

VERY SIMPLE

Labels are putting out the same crap.

Labels only sign the same shit.

Distributors only sign labels who put out boring shit.

= the end of dance music

You have a few break through artists every year.

otherwise we're listening to the same boring shit as always.

why is it that every day there seems to be a new "is trance dead" thread. im really getting sick of it. i htink people need to sit back pull their heads out of their ass's and get of their L337 horses for five minutes. and keep their opinions about this genre to themselves

trance is not dead. there are alot of dead beat producers imo. but if they stop playing trance in clubs and move over to that proggy shit.... ill stop clubbing
