well, i didnt really want the stress put on the "drugs" part of my statement, but did u not, upon reaching 18 y/o, feel so relieved that u culd go see ur favorite DJs in ur favorite clubs wenever u wanted? i dont do drugs either, but, being that im 18+, wtf else can an edm/trance freak do if all the clubs decide 18 y/o are ruining the scene, and that they should be 21+??? thats no way to instill an appreciation for edm either, i dont see ne logic in that.

yea, sandstorm03, hes right, theres a million bars everywhere that wont get shutdown no matter how many ppl walk out drunk as hell.... venues wont get shut down because of drinking, so in that respect, its no where near as powerful as a drug (in the club industry at least) |

well, ur one of the few.... i recall my brother and cousins all going to Limelight and Tunnel and Palladium wen they were like 15/16, and not for teen nights, but for regular nights, shit was so much more lax back then, and yet every1 remembers those days as the best days of edm in the city, so maybe its not an age thing, but a huge change in the way clubs are nowadays, i guess?... i wuldnt know, i never been to ne of those old clubs back in the day. |
FINALLY someone who speaks with sense....i can vouch for what you say because i was in Palladium, Sound Factory, Limelight, Tunnel and beleive it or not Latin Quarters and the Vault when i was under 18....
Times were definatly different then under Dinkins' rule...i LVOE Giulliani for everything EXCEPT what he did to the club scene...and yes you can blame most of it on him...but all in all his plan worked and was good for the city.
Limelight WAS strict to a degree....mainly with special parties in the early to mid 90s....but if u dressed the part then u got in...but if you were some wannabe bridge and tunnel kid...pfff forget it better hit that path train...but apart from Limelight i never had an punce of trouble getting into clubs or even drinking in the early 90s...
But as i grew...and yes when i was 19-21 i started to realize that age enforcement was a good thing because young guys TEND to get carried away with things...women mature faster then men so it doesnt have as much to do with girls.....
Shit got stricter when Mirage started to close and went to Carbon i think....thats when i noticed my younger friends having problems getting in places...at that point i was over 21 so it didnt phase me....
