Agreed...Paul definatly can school Tiesto on mixing.

Tiësto's number one because he looks so damn GQ at his shows.

being the number one dj is not all about mixing, there is more to it.

I think PvD has already proven that he knows how to beatmatch. It's not like we are talking about a new kid coming on to the scene who relies on FS to beatmatch for him.

I want to correct myself on one thing: Final Scratch does make mixing somewhat easier because you have the waveform for each channel in front of you.
But as was said, Paul has for years demonstrated that he can beatmatch just fine.

In substance, not really. It should be all about the mixing, and arguably solo production as well; then even Paul van Dyk wouldn't be in the top ten. Beyond mixing and solo production, other measures of rank are mostly fluff and marketing.
Being number one sure as hell isn't holding god poses to Adagio, though. Crowd interaction and simple icon worship are very different things.
I don't mean to be so blunt, but I'm simply saying it as I see it.

I think being a top DJ has a LOT to do with getting the crowd going and making them have a great time.
A DJ must set the vibe of the night....it is part of his job. One of the most important parts.

Yes, but for Tiesto, how much of that is attributable to him, and how much is attributable to people being hyped up over simply seeing Tiesto? I'll willing to wager it's much more the latter, from my experiences seeing him and from others whose opinions I value.
Tiesto used to have a vibe to what he played, which is why I once regarded him as a good DJ. I haven't felt it since 2002.

thats what tiesto does to allot of people is why he is number one, look at hulk hogan. he has the look, the feel that made him number one, his skills were not the best. image is very big in everything, even music.

Another reason why Tiësto is number one....
Spanish people get confused and go to his show thinking it's a "fiesta" only to find out it's "Tiësto".

I see your point...sorta like how thr anticipation of something is sometimes more exciting then the actual thing u anticipated.
However....Tiesto DOES get people going...i have seen a lot of DJs in my time...and very few have the charisma that he does....he is not the only one by any means...but he has a vibe about him that people DO pick up on when seeing him live....but then again its all subjective right?

See THAT i agree with fully.....i should of stated above that Tiesto giving off the vibe i said above is not like his of yesterday. In 2000 and 2001 that vibe was insane...2002 also...but late mid to late 2002 it seemed like it was fading...and NOW...nah its not the same....
SO YES Tiesto DOES have a vibe that gets people going...and YES he either lost it completly or is losing it steadly.
