EV and JBL is good sound but not close to the quality or volume capability of EAW and Dynacord. |
Last I heard we were talking about club speakers, not theatres? So how does this come into play with sound at Republik.
EV is low end... uh huh! So this is why dj after dj raves about any club with a Telex Communications package. I say this, as all the monitors in a Dynacord set up are EV. I find it amusing that world class djs (Danny Tanaglia) have said that for the first time in their life they could hear the difference between cd and records in a club... only when on an alpha concept system. Now, an alpha concept system is half EV and half Dynacord. For example, the 15" woofers in a alpha concept system are EV, the amps uses are the EV P-RL series remote-control amps with DSP and IRIS control software, and of course all the monitors are EV. So what gives here??? As all these big djs talk about the superior sound, yet EV makes crappy, money consious speakers! I suppose Danny T doesnt really know what hes talking about, but for some reason I dont think thats the case.
Next, you need to make up your mind, is EAW good or bad. In one sentace you rant and rave about the system at Republik, which is EAW, but in another you say only the money consious will use EAW... so which one is it?
You knock JBL, funny as much of the Guv is JBL. JBL is a part of the phazon package. I guess the Guv is money consious?! LOL
You talk about volume capability... oh I get it now, this is where the real problem arises. I think we all have a DIFFERENCE in views as per what good sound is. SPL is WAY over-rated. Kind of like those guys that install the most SPL crazy subs in their car, sure it pushes mad amounts of air, but it lacks definition and clarity. When you listen to a Dynacord system, one is usually most impressed with the incredible clarity of the music, how you can feel the bass, but also hear its punch. At Republik the bass was muffled, once again, yes, it moved air and you could feel it vibrate, but Im not in to that grade 10 pimped out car sub sound. I much prefer hearing every note of the music as it was meant to be heard. I guess its like judging a speaker by its watts, many go one about how many watts a speaker is, but a good speaker is going to be lower watts as the engineers know how to utilize energy instead of waste it through low end coils.
I find it funny that people can knock EV, especially seeing as they hold many of the patents for loud speakers!
1) The invented Manifold technology --- Manifold Technology allows the combining of the outputs of multiple drivers into a single horn or low-frequency enclosure without destructive interference. The result is a physical package that is a fraction of the size with much greater acoustic output capability.
2)Ring-Mode Decoupling (RMDTM) --- Ring-Mode Decoupling (RMDTM), a revolutionary approach to minimizing acoustical and mechanical resonances in loudspeakers. Speaker systems with RMD have improved clarity and resolution, especially in the vocal range.
3)Constant-directivity (CD) horns --- Constant-directivity (CD) horns, which allow a loudspeaker to maintain its coverage angles over a wide frequency range with more uniform sound quality.
Oh and lets not forget EV has also won an acadamy award for its role in enhancing sound for movies... funny to your previous comment eh!
Lastly, in regards to Alpha concept systems, they are the ONLY complete package system designed SOLEY for dance music... naturally Id imagine its going to have an edge on the competition!
Schooled, I dont think so... Working for another club, lol, no... Im just a sound junkie. The first thing I do when I go to any club is check out the speakers. If im not framiliar with the model I will often check out the pdf on its stats the second I get home. I love quality sound, that is all. I wonder how many of you claiming I must work for another club, work for Republik... oh the irony!!!
