No, those days trance was called techno in Amerika. Every fucked up track with a beat/bass was called techno their. Thats why american people call Scooter techno. In europe techno was called techno from the beginning. And scooter is no techno. Don't wanna hear that again here.

Goa originated in Germany?
Techno is short for techno-house?
Talla 2XLC is the godfather of techno?

You learn something new every day.

you gotta be kidding me. that site is just full of mumbo jumbo. and all those "references" are written by various random visitors of the site with no knowledge of EDM.

For example the explanation of trance is totally wrong. It seems to explain only the early 90s hardtrance. Not a single words about the first trance labels such as Eye Q Records, MFS, Superstition. And not a single word about Sven Väth. LOL!

And when you read about the goa trance part it says "Goa was born in Germany..." and then it say "Trance was played on a lot of beach parties and because of its warm climate of “goa” vinyl would melt."
LOL! I laughed when I read this. The guy who wrote this obviously got no idea that Goa is a place in India. A place where lots of hippies and djs went in late 80 and early 90s to go to beach parties. Even Sven Väth went there and was influenced by the music there which gave him inspiration for his Eye Q label.

also: " Goa trance is played all over the world and the public seem to enjoy it more because it is more “relaxing” and “easy-listening” style than other types of trance".
The style goa trance doesn't exist any longer. It almost totally vanished a couple of years ago when most of all goa trance labels disapeared. Most people would refer to psychedelic trance when refering to goatrance today.. And no it's not the easiest style of trance since uplifting with the strong use of vocals and melodies is far more popular than goa trance.

And the description of techno seems to been written by some affiliate from Suck Me Plasma. Gee there were loads of techno djs besides Talla 2XLC.

in australia if you ask the average person techno is EDM as a whole, doesnt really bother me. To most people (even those in EDM scene call stuff by scooter, dj alligator, brooklyn bounce etc Techno, and people like Rank 1 etc 'trance' where as the techno the yare reffering to is actually hard house i think.

what MOST germans call techno isn't what MOST of other people call techno, style such as mauro picotto, marco carola, chris liebing end so on, when they mean style like talla2xlc. which is so called "german trance" to me (not to be confused with euphonic label and other brilliant german trance acts) which doesn't really have any of the flow, massive soundscapes, filters or anything known from (read: real if you will) trance, but hard edge bouncy 1 2 3 march feel.

i'm not saying i or anyone else is right or wrong, but obviously whole lot of different sounding styles are called with the same name.

and what comes to scooter, they indeed startted with trance, not many people know that, check tune "Rhapsody in E" for example, that's actually more trance than what trance is nowadays (if trance is suppose to be what it was when it was born in 91-92)
clip: http://mp3.juno.co.uk/MP3/SF185663-01-02-02.mp3

but i think their early days are more known from their happyhardcore/rave songs. and some people call hardcore as "hardcore techno" so that "scooter-techno" combination has came somewhere from there..

not to get too lost from the topic, here are what i think is trance and what is techno:
