TRAVEL ROUTE

This is the driving route I took to NYC on Sunday:

Total tolls (including Lincoln Tunnel) is around $14. Total time 8 hours. No construction, beautiful mountain drive. 480 miles Toronto to Manhattan.

CONDENSED (hiway names only):

QEW -> 405 -> 190S -> 290E -> 90E -> 690E -> 81S -> 380S -> 80E -> 80E-Exp -> 280E -> 495E

(S = south, N = north, E = east, W = west)

FULL DIRECTIONS:

1: Merge onto QEW toward NIAGARA FALLS.

2: Take the HWY-405 exit- EXIT 37- on the LEFT toward QUEENSTON. 0.2 miles

3: Merge onto PROVINCIAL ROUTE 405 E. 5.1 miles

4: PROVINCIAL ROUTE 405 E becomes QUEENSTON-LEWISTON BRIDGE. 0.5 miles

5: QUEENSTON-LEWISTON BRIDGE becomes I-190 S (Portions toll). 14.7 miles

6: Merge onto I-290 E / YOUNGMANN EXPY via EXIT 16 toward I-90 / TONAWANDA / ROCHESTER. 9.8 miles

7: Merge onto I-90 E / NEW YORK STATE TRWY E via EXIT 1-49 on the LEFT toward ALBANY (Portions toll). 130.7 miles

8: Merge onto I-690 E via EXIT 39 toward SYRACUSE / FAIRGROUNDS. 9.8 miles

9: Merge onto I-81 S toward BINGHAMTON. 129.8 miles

10: Take EXIT 187 toward US-6 E / CARBONDALE / I-380 S / MT POCONO / I-84 E. 0.4 miles

11: Merge onto I-380 S via the exit on the LEFT. 27.7 miles

12: Merge onto I-80 E via EXIT 1 on the LEFT toward STROUDSBURG. 62.3 miles

13: Merge onto I-80 EXPRESS LN E via EXIT 45 on the LEFT. 1.9 miles

14: Merge onto I-280 E via EXIT 47A on the LEFT toward THE ORANGES / NEWARK (Portions toll). 17.3 miles

15: Merge onto NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE N / I-95 N toward EXIT 16E / LINCOLN TUNNEL (Portions toll). 4.2 miles

16: Take the exit toward LINCOLN TUNNEL / NEW YORK CITY. 0.5 miles

17: Merge onto NJ-495 E (Portions toll). 2.9 miles

18: Merge onto LINCOLN TUNNEL / I-495 E. 0.8 miles

if you leave at midnight you're likely to hit morning rush in NYC.
going through PA the trip shouldn't take more than 7.5- 8 hours.

just to give you a heads up.
btw as far as speeding goes I lock my cruise control at 79miles/hour and have never been ticketed at any point during the drive down where the posted limit is 65. be careful around Buffalo as the limit drops a lot and the final strech in PA leading to the delaware water gap the limit drops to 45.
