tell him to b*tch these motherf0ckers out and that they get him a nice check for having stayed there overnight and also request a free car rental upon arrival in New York.
Trust me it can be done.
I've gotten 600 bucks before for being bumped off flights and then hotel and private taxi back to my place and all that jazz. But you have to ask and sometimes insist but seriously they'll give him anything if he's angry enough.
I'm a nice guy ( usually ) but when faced with such situations I am the meanest person alive!

Actually ppl now a days dont just fly one airline. Most airlines are in groups as Luhfffy as I call it is in Sky Team. Which means he can fly Austrian, United, SAS, Lot etc and still get his Luhffy frequent flyer miles
