Indeed.
I think I mentioned that same thing in another one of these wonderful "is trance dead" threads a long time ago. I love trance, and was thankfully aware of it enough during the good years to at least keep track of what was going down. Unfortunately, those good years I was a teenager in the most boring state in the entire United States, so I never got to experience anything except for hearing tracks online and buying mixes and having them shipped to me.
I'm working with some guys around here to try and fix that problem, but hip-hop, cRap, and that dreadful wanna be punk shit is king of the music scene over here right now. I would honestly say that except for a couple big cities like Miami, NYC, LA, etc. the rest of the U.S. is clueless when it comes to EDM.
Anyway, I think house is leading the way because it went through this same re-tooling phase while trance was kicking everyones ass, so my suggestion is keep the faith, check out all the cool house going on, and pray that the trance camp goes back to work and comes out with something that just kicks everyones ass again when house starts to decline.

I listened to a very recent compilation from a low-key psy trance label and it would appear that trance, even the style from the pre-anthem/epic days, is still very much around. Mind, it wasn't anything groundbreaking but t'was solid enough to enjoy if you've been longing for some old school sounds.
So, no, trance isn't dying at all. Kind of like how the Ishy one said, it's just in a place that's far harder to find, somewhere else in the world away from the limelight.
...to be honest, though, trance never really held much limelight for the first third of it's existence.

Just bought Giuseppe Ottaviani -linking people (original mix) from itune. How can you say trance is dying after this?
Once again look at top Dj list. How many Djs spining trance out there????
It Doesnt take any skill to spin/scratch r&b/hip hop thats why all these
Africa-American DJs will never get the crownd or get into top World 100.
Please dont even bring up a rasicm issue here.
Edit:
All wanna be top Djs who failed to get there. I bet all you trance haters are spinning in USA in the fucking village where word trance has never been heard. You cant get the crowd going because they are fucking rednecks with shotguns listening to the country. But there is slso another community out there, and they are our future. I can say so becuase Ive played in many clubs in US and there is nothing better than playing in Europe. G & D , BT did a lot for US. But you guys have to wait for another generation to truly understand music.
And never create topics like this. Trance is out there, in the clubs, dance floors. Our generations is trance and you can mix anyway you want, it will never die!!!!!!

This is really both boon and bane. On the one hand, we've seen what popularity does to trance; it adds foreign elements to the sound and detracts from the original ethos of the music. On the other hand, it makes it damn hard to find trance about.
By the way, trance will never die. It's been around as long as there's been music. It was never called by the name, "trance," but the ethose, the primal, tribal notion of hypnotic, rhythmic music has been around as long as man has been able to beat a drum. And it will continue to live on, if it doesn't stay in its electronic medium.
I think there are enough people interested in the pure trance sound to keep it going, though.

No, they are actually winning the most prestigious DJ competition in the world every year instead of fawning over meaningless popularity contests and overhyped internet ranking systems.
