5k+ vinyls
11k+ CDs
about 1 gig of mp3s on 2 CDs from around '98-'99, haven't burned mp3s on CD since as i don't backup any mp3s, i just delete them
19 mp3s on my computer, all legal downloads and/or friends' productions

I used to download illegal mp3s but got so sick of the 'OMG 0-day mp3 is teh 1337' -people who never buy anything i stopped doing it for good some years back and nowadays i buy all the music i listen, mostly vinyls/CDs and mp3s only if the track(s) aren't being released on an actual record. I don't collect sets, never have.

Just because you find a "load of mp3s" non-analogous to having the real feel of vinyl or cd doesn't take away that it's a collection. One thing is to find mp3s not aesthectically pleasing and another thing is trying to redefine what a word means.

I'm not trying to redefine the word "collection." I already told you that it's a semantics thing, and I just happen to have a different idea of what is considered a collection than you do.

that's really impressive. my dad has around 5-7k vinyls, but im on a mission to sell them all. i carel little for 70s stuff, allthough there are some early detroit/chicago stuff that im gonna keep.

got a list of these 11k cds? or a picture even? i can't even imagine how big a shelf like that would be. i have, as said earlier in this thread, around 400 cds, and they take up a lot of room in my 8 squaremeter room

I haven't been keeping an exact count of my music for some years.. and currently my place is a mess, have no room to do anything because there's random piles of records allover. Will take some pics when i get a camera of sort, and have managed to put up the music in order again. I DO have a huge custom made shelf which covers one whole wall in my living room to fit all my records but lately been too busy of work, and overall lazy, to keep it all organized and so things has gotten so messed up.

I don't want to see it myself.. i'm a perfectionist but my ass has just been way too lazy due so many other distracting things and i have let things gone out of hand to a state i don't want them to be. So no, there won't be any pics until i have gotten my place into a decent order again.

1.7tb of tunes and music dvdr all hooked up to my htpc. That includes everything from 10 year old scream tracker files to the latest lossless audio. I been on the internet a loooooong time. My latest compulsive collecting thing is getting bit for bit copies of CDS/CDM releases in flac format, this actually involves buying stuff occasionally which is a strange thing for me
