Raw speed is important when one-on-one with a striker yes, but timing makes a huge part of it. It is also very important to react fast but that is quite different from pace.
Strenght i don't think it is important at all (except for strenght on the fists to punch the ball!), you just don't see Buffon, Cech, Dida with the huge chest from those guys whose pics were posted before! It's all about agility, reflexes, not the size of the muscles! That's what I meant.. |
yea there are similarities in hockey keepers and soccer keepers reflexes is one. I used to play that too. But for american football you have to catch, you have to run, hit people hard, win balls out of the air, throw, punt, have good timing...... need I say more? An athlete is an athlete.
