honestly your post just kinda led into the point i was trying to make. maybe i should have said "my point" at the end. if every post in an appreciation thread was an anecdote about their character, i wouldn't be posting in this thread at all.
I don't see a ton of those, mostly just polite compliments ("you're always smiling","you're such a sweet person","i love your energy" etc...) if I'm going to tell someone I like that they always have a smile on their face (and believe me, I do) I do it in person.
Compare the original RJ appreciation thread = Lots of anecdotes vs. Lots of compliments. |
you're right..
I suppose mine can also be considered a statement directed at many TAs also... cuz it seems most have too much fun in trying to put others down... they would rather tear someone apart instead of working towards making the community tighter. These appreciation threads may be rampant from time to time... but I also feel the negativitely being expressed here is FAR more rampant.. and annoying. So, sometimes seeing a happy bumpin appreciation or birthday thread is a nice change from the pointless negativity we see so often here... even if it means some are full of useless comments... at least they bring something positive... know what I mean?
I say to each their own... open the threads that interest you.. skip over the ones that don't... pretty simple
