Had a blast @ Conference.
PROs
Lee Burridge @ Bed and Sasha/Digweed @ Space were the best parties I went to.
I have always liked Burridge but man he took it to another level this weekend. For the first couple days, I heard good music but nothing too impressive. I wasnt sure if I had become more snobby or the DJs just werent delivering. Until Saturday...Lee's set at Bed was jaw dropping. So unique, fresh, and banging. Played Energy Flash which went off.
Sasha, Digweed, etc @ Space. This party ended up being fantastic. Was a little worried at first. Digweed started at 2 and it was very slow/deep til about 530. Probably too chill for the time/venue as they lost a lot of people to the terrace which was banging. Sasha seemed pissed about the Ableton problems. However, I went back down around 530 or 6 and they were absolutely slamming! Really dark and brooding. Made up for the slowness and then some. Not sure why it took them that long to build it up. Solid opening set by JVM. Digweeds opening track was AWESOME. He also played it on the terrace at like 10am. In the middle of the slow/deep part (maybe around 4 or so) Sasha dropped one of the biggest bombs I have ever heard. Cant wait to hear the recording and see the id.
Heard a bit of Desyn which was great. Zabiela was just ridiculous. For a while they were making the guys downstairs look silly. Burridge got on later and continued to destroy the terrace. Such awesome music. I literally could not stop dancing. Everyone was just looking at each other like 'holy shit'. It was one of those nights. It was cool seeing like 10 or 15 of the worlds biggest DJs chillin on the terrace at like 11am. This seemed to be the most musically oriented crowd of any of the Space nights. I guess a lot of spring breakish people were weeded out by Monday.
Lawler @ Space - Solid. Liked the inside better than outside. More banging, more builds, etc. Outside was good but flat if you know what I mean. Recognized the most tracks on this night. Lots of stuff from LO3 and the Vision set.
Sander @ Terrace - Didnt go til 930 am or so. Very good! But heard it was way better between 6 and 9. Those clowns tried to charge $70 at 930 but we talked them down to $50.
Lawler @ Cafeteria - Very fun time. Cool to see him in that small room.
Spent some time @ Pawnshop for Digweed (only stayed from 1-2 so not sure if he picked up the pace or what), & Degenerates - left around 8 it was ok. But I heard it was awesome later in the day.
Finally, the RRR BBQs were a blast - nice job Pure! Killer sets by David Duriez, Mazi, Holden, Nic, Fortier, Porter, etc...
CONs
You kind of need to go into it knowing that a) shit is going to be massively overcrowded and a pain in the ass, b) you need to spend your $ on other things besides hard liquor in the clubs or you will be killed and c) ALL customer service goes out the window when you land in MIA. That goes for hotels, restaurants, clubs, taxis, everything.
If I hear that Party all the Time track again I will puke.
