Again I'm trying piece together a review but I'm totally out of it...and have a flight to catch in mere hours. This being my very first Toronto clubbing experience, I was naturally really excited. I had heard nothing but good things about the Guv. Entertainment Complex, and rightfully so. I only got to see the Guv room, Hip Hop room (YUCK) and the patio before staying the remainder of the night in the night in the KoolHaus which was everything Mel hyped it up to me. Just awesome. The audio/video setup was really nice. The entire room layout was really cool and reminded me a lot of the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht, Holland only a lot smaller. Still, this was bigger and more comfortable than that shithole known as Space in Miami. Brad Goldfinger started off with some somewhat decent prog/prog trance but then he picked it up near the end. Guy Ornadel....his opening was Tracking bla bla bla...the eat shit track. Other than that, his entire set was energetic and really good. VERY impressive set.
Rank 1....man. Thanks to Tyler I managed to spend some time and talk to Piet, albeit a short time. Piet is defintely one of the nicest DJs ever. And he just BANGED it out last with another great set. I heard what sounded like an INSANE remix of Awakening. WOW. Piet also told me he'll be in Los Angeles @ Spundae on June 3rd...I SERIOUSLY need to make it out for that. The KoolHaus totally lost it when Piet dropped the original mix of Airwave. I was recording video when my batteries died. Overall, another great, great set.
Yoji Biomehanika...
I missed his set at Trance Energy 2005 due to reasons beyond my control so I got my makeup time last night....
DAMN. Absolutely insane. Loved it. He played Samurai and Hardstyle Disco, among many other tunes. Me and Cale were totally enjoying it, for the mutahfuckin WIN. Lisa and Laura didn't like it at all. Laura said, "What is this noise?" NOW you guys know how I feel when I hear HOUSE. /gets flame shield ready. Yoji played a track that was on the Trance ENergy 2005 set which sounded Japanese in its nature and I lost it on the sidelines. So energetic. He was still playing when me, Tyler and MaxTO left...we were dead and as you guys would say, 'Sketched' out of our minds.....but GOOD fuckin' times....I LOVE TOTA!
FInally got to meet THE Vivid Boy...you fuckin rock bro. Your quote of the night....
"Two CORe Legends in 1 room in the same night."
Totally for the win.
Swamper came in with his girl behind the DJ booth. Haven't seen you since WMC 2005, boss. Really nice chatting with you.
I also finally met the cute dallastar, Moral Hazard, Evil Cookie, Irish Graham, tatgirl, shanny (sorry I didnt seem to talk much dude...I was fucked out of my mind), Stereo Mada, rabbitjoker, Kelly (dance2dabeat), UforikSensation, Mako, Intrance, m2j, tha_broad and many other TOTAs. Just.....a fucking legendary night....next up for this Angel in Black is Labour of Love, and this time I'll have my FLTA crew with me.
Nice seeing again: Spitty, Nada, Sean, Lucas (OH MY PLOW!), Jay (KKEFKA), Tordan, EvilTree and many others.
The missing: my bro Jem, Fahad, Katie, Theresa and a few others...I missed you all.
Pics and videos to come when I get home.
