Another shit display by Brazil, although this one, in my opinion, was less shitty than against Croatia (which is not saying much, I know), so in a sense, they're improving.
Game notes:
1-) Ronaldo played a little better this time, but not by much. He had two very nice passes that either resulted or almost resulted in goals (first pass in the 2nd minute over the top to Kaka who blasted one that barely missed, and the second one to Adriano). Other than that, not very effective, although he was more active this game. Screw ABC for showing him whiff on the ball over and over again. We get it you fuckin' dumbasses.
2-) Ronaldinho was again far from effective. His passing was sub-par yet again, and he didn't create much at all for his forwards. If Ronaldinho doesn't start making plays for everyone else, the offense is going to keep struggling and only brilliant but sporadic individual displays are going to save them.
3-) Kaka was again the best offensive player for his side. At least he's in top-form. Had two booming shots (one that barely missed and the other that required a good save from the keeper) and hit a crossbar on a header, but missed an absolute gimme at the end that would have made it 3-0. Still great as usual.
4-) Adriano was crap as usual. Other than his goal, he did next to nothing. I still don't understand why defenders don't crowd him on his left foot. HE HAS NO RIGHT FOOT. MY 5 YEAR OLD COUSIN HAS MORE CONTROL OVER HER RIGHT FOOT THAN THIS MAN.
5-) Ze Roberto was awesome in defensive mid-field. Made two enormous (and clean) tackles that prevented the Australians from breaking loose onto the Brazilian goal. Man of the match for me.
6-) Robinho again injected some life into Brazil's offense as soon as he came on. Had two great chances, including the one that hit the post and was cleaned up by FREDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!
7-) The Brazilian central defense was shaky. Against better teams, they'll have problems if they play like that again.
The Aussie defense was very solid. They also had 4 GREAT chances that they couldn't convert: 1 on the Dida mistake, one when Bresciano was ALL ALONE and inexplicably waited forever and didn't shoot till he was dispossessed, and two flicks over Dida that just barely missed. Again, with a bit more class from their forwards, they would have gotten at least a couple of goals.
Whoever complained about the ref in this game is on crack. Hallucinogenic mushroom-like heroin spiked crack. By far the best ref in this World Cup, who actually let the players play and didn't take away from the flow of the game. If anything, he was harsh with Brazil, giving out yellow cards to Ronaldo and Robinho for shooting after the whistle and complaining a little too much after a call, respectively.
Finally, as much I still love Ronaldo, it's clear that Robinho currently gives this team more. The offense was much more free flowing and creative when he entered in the 70th minute, and Robinho created more chances in 20 minutes than Ronaldo did in 70. Give the kid a chance to shine.
