How the heck would you categorize the duo nowadays? I saw the tracklist for Sasha's new LA mix compilation, and looked for the tracks on Beatport, but I can't figure out what the heck style he is now.

The DJ is a focus as much as a band is the focus at a gig. You wouldnt go to a festival and not look at the band playing on stage would you? Its a focal point for the crowd and imo a good DJ should work the crowd like any rockstar would.

Its not about detracting from the music, its about taking it to the next level.

Usually, in gigs, bands are playing their music

You are not supposed to enter a club blind-folded. Things dont work that way. You can look at the DJ without feeling guilty about yourself.

Read it again please. He said Sasha played 'the most boring set he had ever heard' in his life.

He probably looked at the DJ booth not with admiration and whoring, but with disgust.

You missed the point entirely, congratulations.

sasha may not perform to his best ability every time he comes to town, and if you live in some podunk city with a crappy edm scene then chances are you've never heard sasha on point, but the key is that he's already proven his world-class mixing and programming ability AND when he wants to, he's still got it. you wanna talk about overrated... how about tiesto and oakenfold who on their best day couldn't mix as well as sasha on his worst. oakenfold costs as much as sasha and that man can't even beatmatch... after how many years??? tiesto's mixing is also absolute ass, an eq'ing nightmare, not to mention his sleep-inducing programming and total lack of direction, and he costs twice as much as sasha!

i think the biggest problem here is we have epic/anthem trance people who are used to predictable build ups every 5-7 minutes trying to appreciate a dj who is into beat progression where their isn't a rhetorical epic build up that cues you to go nuts and arm flail... and the result is: omg i don't know when to enjoy the music because all i know is how to wave my arms back and forth when the dj starts doing it. now i can't do that, what a rip off, i'm bored!

All he plays nowdays is tracks with only drums and beats. And than more drums, bass and beats. Totally funky music. I dont know what genre this is myself, maybe 'Jungle and DnB' or something.

Today's Sasha is just like Tiesto who is only leveraging on his past, today he is all only with a heck style which nobody knows, which nobody likes.

how brilliantly assuming. so if I think it was a shit set, its because their isnt cue points in the music to tell me what to do? did you actually read that through before posting it?

and for the record, i listen to techno.
