I don't put a great deal of value on the US contribution to the Second Great War either. Let's face it, the Soviet Union won the war, the western front was mearly a distraction. Additionally, no one can deny that French resistance to the inital invasion was minimal and ineffectual to say the very most (guess the Magino.... I know I spelled that very wrong... line wasn't exactly the best idea afterall).

I also agree that deeming the French to be surrender monkeys is unfair, however, it's damned good entertainment, if we cannot poke fun at our friends then really everyone has gotten just a little to sensitive.

With regard to Daft Punk... I am not writing off all French acheivement, just playing along with that which I was set up with.

Indeed, however, I took your comment to refer to the US who have hijacked the term American and used it to define themselves to the exclusion of all others. Regardless, Canadians identify themselves as American just about as readily as the Brits identify themselves as European.... which is to say with a great deal of disgust if at all.
