the whole attitude like, "well if u get divorced, then bla bla bla" so non-challantly, like it's more of a "when" and not "if" is disturbing to me. no wonder the divorce rate is so high. it's sad.

It's still afact though. I'd rather be prepared for it & then not have to deal with that than not think about it and get slapped in the face by it.

sorta like Clarance Worley's mentality in True Romance.

It's better to have a gun and not need it, than to not have a gun and need it.

you're just a bunch of idealists. who cares if you get divoriced? its not like the end of the world. if you get 5-10 good years its worth it. it be like saying you should stay with your first bf for the rest of your life even if some where along the line you fall out of love. just listen to yourselves. you sound ridiculous.

absolutly... its worth the pain (to some extent) and the money (easily, that shit can be made back) knowing you got 5-10 years of happy marriage in life...

bah. That just means you're either bad at reading people or bad at maintaining a relationship.

You're already setting the marriage up for failure by assuming that it wont work out.

No wonder the divorce rate is through the roof.

As mentioned earlier, seperate accounts mean nothing if you divorce... the funds in those accounts will be added to the collective net worth and distributed equally (in community property jurisdictions... so most of the US, Canada, and most of Europe).

So what you're saying is that you would a) not trust your husband with money and, b) not want to be accountable to him regarding money. If that is the case then you shouldn't be marrying that person. Marriage is a total partnership that requires trust, anything less then that is a false marriage and you're right to assume it will end in divorce as you have already set the ground work for it.

Always keep separate accounts but also have a joint account for joint expenses like the mortgage, utilities etc. This way you can easily keep a track of spending and not have to determine who's spending what where.
