Ok.Thanks. Think I'm gonna need to spend sometime practicing and getting my head round it all. It's a lot to take in but a great tutorial. Maybe now I'll start using notes that actually belong to the same key rather than just randomly picking whatever notes I fancy

would you recommend that trance is more melodic and uplifting
when you stay in one key for 8 bars ,and just play notes in that key and use short intervals.

or

do the typical I,IV,V Chord progression and change the chord and keys every 2 bars.

Instead of thinking of what's melodic or uplifting, think of what sounds good to you. Try both methods and see what appeals to you. Music that appeals to you will appeal to others as well. Think of it that way.

A very helpful tutorial. But I am stuck in understanding the last bit where the the chords are broken down into patterns.
How do I determine the transistional bits?

Goldy pretty simple ,every key your melody is in has 7 keys that you can use

for example

B-flat - minor triad

Bb,db,fmaj

transistional keys
would be c ,eb,g,and a

so a melody includes 3 things chords/triads ,inversions,and scales.

Thanks for replying.
Still a bit confused. Could you explain that how it's done in the tutorial? Using the d-minor scale.
