well madonna is not a DJ, she is supposed to be a singer/songwriter type artist, so i don't know why you are comparing madonna to a DJ. did you mean a trance producer? if you do mean producer...then...wow, i know those guys have engineers to help them out, but they don't write thier own music??? that can't be true for "just about every single" one

and if somehow i missunderstood what you meant, then how could you apply my quote to every single trance dj? if you're saying that DJ's play other peoples music for thier own success then...DUH...that's what DJ's do, they play other peoples music.

again you can't compare what madonna is doing to what a DJ does...
but,to repeat myself,a DJ plays other peoples music, hopefully, in a creative way. they do not claim the music they play as thier own...so ya...

madonna on the other hand...she hires people to write out her instrumental parts, and maybe even write her lyrics? i dunno. but, your original statement a couple posts back was that she is some huge influence on the electronic dance music scene or somthing like that. this may be true...but she didnt do any of the instrumental work, which is what really did the influencing, not her stupid-ass lyrics.

but anyway, to be successful in the music biz, then yes, you can apply the fact that you have to be a good buisness person to any artist in every genre.

No, I am not comparing Madonna to a DJ.

That would be an insult to Madonna.

Uh...

to some extent,

but all of the guys at the top have made production albums and tracks that everyone loves for an extend period of time. A lot of people agree that back when the big names weren't the hugest of names they made some awesome produciton albums. Tiesto, Armin, PVD....

i know you in particular might not their stuff. You'd consider it a raping of the genre. most people don't see it that way. the type of stuff you like is still in existence, but just not in the popular part of the scene.

....

I'm glad that basement jaxx cd won those couple years ago, I liked it alot. Wasn't really ever into the Chemical bros. though.

As far as who I wish were the popular musicians, thats a tough question. I liked the madonna CD best out of the ones you can grab at best buy or the local mall or what have you. Grammys has always been about recognizing those who are the most recognizable. So who is at that border of being recognizable but isn't quite there? Not many people who have an elible CD this year.

Is the Chemical Brothers "Galvanize" more Dance then Madonna's "Sorry"?
Madonna does indeed stand a chance to win the award.

My favorite EDM album this year? Probably Royksopp "The Understanding", although it really came out in mid 2005.
