Honestly guys, people that know me were shocked, horrified and amazed that I was going to CZ on Sunday - so much so that 6 people who didn't intend on going, went just to see my face! Now, at the danger of losing respect from my fellow TAs, yes, I am a princess and yes, I can be snooty in my choice of clubs and associates BUT I was not, in any way, disgusted or scared at CZ.

Perhaps AA attracted a better crowd, I certainly don't know as I don't have a benchmark to go on but I know for sure that there were at least 10 people I knew (so prob many many more) making 6 figures (legitimately) as well as the younger crowd that are on their way to get there. I don't class that as a sketchy club! Stats that TiL would be proud of I think...

I find this very hard to believe.

You weren't the only one

I'm still amazed at how much fun it was to come out to CZ that day...but I know...I came later on that day...it was probably more sketchier early morning...

I couldn't believe it when I saw it...I think it's because alot of the guv regulars were there...and were already sobered up...

i guess the moral of the story is it's no big deal going to zone... going to afterhours in general u see sketchiness sometimes more than others, i guess ppl have been controlling themselvesa bit more lately at the zone. Which is a good thing to see, because we can enjoy an entire sunday (morning or night) with a wicked dj lineup, and some crazy ass ppl who party hard. Long Live CZ!

just an additional note: cz has been heading towards 'ruins' until early this year until the new manager Dale came to the plate and spun the entire concept of comfort zone around; not only did he manage the place but he also took part in it - constantly surveying the crowd and taking that extra mile to chat with the people there; certainly there were many regulars there who were unhappy with the change - the look (it's gotten cleaner), the crowd (less sketchy - and yes it has been much more) and the music (i.e. changes the line-up). it's definitely had its obstacles but i think it's turning around in a positive way. everything just takes awhile to settle but be rest assured Dale is very aware of its previous reputation and very ready to challenge (and embrace) the negativity surrounding it. he's acknowledged it and is having 'a blast' trying to turn it from disaster to 'success.'
At the same time he hopes that while in the process, those who are experiencing 'it' with him are having fun too. so for those who are 'scared', give it a try and regardless of whether you like it or not, i guarantee you it will be one of the most memorable experiences of your life! =)

nice post (claps hands)

so true; i had a discussion with him after my set and he is really passionate about what he is doing, and honestly, it is working... the zone can be the dark underground afterhours that we all love with out having to look like a crack house, shit all over the ground, and not being able to see two inches in front of your face. i brought 12 people this time that live in toronto and haven't gone to cz in three years, yet, they wanted to come hear my set. they had THE BEST TIME and couldn't believe how much fun cz was. the changes are for the better and will bring many who wouldn't have gone before; which is a good thing cause they need to hear how every dj that plays there pours his or her heart out musically through those decks. truly the best sets you'll hear in the city in my opinion...

Nope, thats the head doorman, Doogie. Dale is quite tall, dark curly hair, big build and looks like he is either indian or middle eastern. He's lovely.
