I forgot how brain numbingly impossible it was to talk to some people on this board. Here I am trying to have a discussion on TRANCE (first time on this board in like 2 years) and it's hi-jacked twelve different ways. The dancing elmo's were my favourite.

Agreed 110%. I heard this more than a few times on Sunday night @ Guv and even a few at Sonic the night prior.

Most people start off with trance and that usually is and or was the first thing they ever listened to apart from eurodance/freestyle/z103 garbage. Of course like most including myself we all called it "Techno". After actually gaining some knowledge about EDM most people after awhile can distinguish the diff sounds of each genre. What I found was that all the amazing trance that WAS produced back in the days 1997-2001 had ALOT more melodies. Now I find nearly all the trance produced these days sounds far too overcrowded with hightaps, effects, and prolounged breakdowns making it sound all too similar. There are only few artists that I feel make a thorough effort in producing something quite unique to separate themselves from the rest of the pack. Trance had always given me a very uplifting, euphoric feel... spine tinglying momemts I will never forget... but these days its nearly impossible to find these tracks which forces people to broaden their horizon and choose another genre... thus leading to people to revert to the next biggest genre: house. I have officially been converted over to house now but I will always be stuck on the progressive side as far as house is concerned. If people have the pleasure of listening to Oakey's distinct sounds of his entire Essential Mix World Tour back in '99 you'll get a much better feel to see how quickly this "Trance" genre has evolved or rather regressed over the years.

trance never died, it just completely changed into what most people never wanted it to become...

this isn't a thread about the evolution of trance lol nor about how you only listen to house now (which I have a feeling means you listen to Sander, lol)

IT'S ABOUT TRANCE (STYLE, ELEMENTS, FORMULA, PATTERNS, SOUNDS) FINDING THEMSEVLES IN MUSICAL TRENDS TODAY

FFS!
