So you put your stock in knowledge in the hands of other people? Sounds a lot like religion.
Zealots of any brand of faith are what is truly corrupt about any set of knowledge and belief; whether it is Christianity or Atheism, it is still dependent on supposed forms of thinking, and both sides would offer their 'proof' - your subscription to whatever side of the argument you fall on is what comprises your beliefs. Unless you fancy yourself a nihilist or something? Seems kind of ridiculous - even scientific 'proof' is just knowledge of what the data gained from the scientific process has indicated thusfar, so those who put their stock in science also put faith into what the process has indicated, and even then, the faith is somewhat blind because it is often supported by theories and supposed "laws" - but when we look far enough, those laws are being contantly broken and defied. I fail to see the major difference between scientific proof and faith in (un)substantiated human rumour in angels and devils and whatnot. By your views, humans created both science and god - did they not? So how can you possibly differentiate one true brand of "reason" over another when the support remains the same throughout? It's all been humans.
