They were all like "oohh yeeaa bring goa-trance back" but everybody meant a different think by goa-trance!According to Rebel9 for example, "goa-trance" is the more morning Israeli stuff such as Astral whereas Psychedelic are the more european night twisted stuff like Hallucinogen, a theory that i'm aware of. Others like you (from what i understood) state that psy is more modern then 90s goa and suggest to listen to the difference between modern cosma and protoculture to older Astral,MFG,Juno,Transwave etc. etc. etc. (something satupid IMO. Imagine comparing Rank-1s "Awakenings" to Van Dyks "for an angel". They clearly sound like they are in different genres. It's the genre's evolution in time rather then the creation of different genres that contribute)When i ask for a difference nobody gives me a clear answer (only something like are you deaf?Go listen lol).Strangely enough you inform me that goa can also be psy(?!?!?!?). So are you sure that it's only me that doesn't understand why the word goa trance was used in the first place?

Here you have one goa tune released in 2005 and one released 2006, they share the characteristics of goa from the 90s. So stop whining about my comparison. What are you gonna tell me now, only tunes produced the same day can be compared?
Khetzal & Chai - Babylone Beach
Filteria - Rotate To Vibrate
Furthermore you're creating a lot of confusion when you distort what people here have said, and it seems like you're misinterpreting people on purpose.

No, the only thing is wrong is you, saying my post is wrong without elaborating. oh and surely i don't think "minimal" or "neo-trance" or whatever this thing is called is made-up of guitars and violins...

So, ok these tunes are made by old artists (at least filteria) who are stuck in the 90s goa/psy-trance sound...what's wrong with that? This is not proof of dfferent genres,it's only that they like it 90s...but ok ...you want to call it goa?Cool!
And i haven't misinterpeted anyone mister...nor distort anyone's sayings as you state. If you want to personally accuse me then at least back-it up properly with examples...!It's not my fault that half of the people were like "goa, no who said it's dead" (probably because they thought as psy and goa as one and the same ) and others thought of specific groups and still others of time-periods and/or groups. That was a salad not genre-definition...but ok, if today's fans (like Rebel9 said) refer to older trance as "psy-goa" and to modern just "psy" ok...
I was into trance personally in 96, and that is psy/goa which it was extremely famous in Greece back then, whith it's own scene and massive parties (still is...Wizzy noise, Jaia...).I can assure you that there was NO distinction or whatsoever.I have demonstrated the compilation by Astral themeselves in 1996 describing the scene as "Israeli Psychedelic Trance". I bought this compilation when it first came out. I used to read interviews back then from Astral stating their sound as "Psychedelic".The only distinction that was made (but this was not standart) was between the Israeli more morning scene and the european usually more night, acid-edged scene.
So, Maybe today's people in Isra-trance have a nostalgy for older psy/goa (as people do in epic trance as well today...it's always about 98-99...) and in order to distinquish from current stuff they tend to over-state the "goa" name...that is the "psy/goa" trance and not just the "psy" or "full-on" that is today. So, maybe this genre distinction is modern therefore. (Strangely though you still get "goa-trance" compilations as far as i know).

so, if i'm to seriously consider that yellow sunshine explosion compilation as the definition of the genre, "neo trance" is supposed to be a genre composed of the following:
- progressive house made mostly with sounds associated with psytrance (music that's been around widely at the very least since 2000)
- progressive house and tech house that borrows elements from 'lo-fi' music (around since the late 90s at the very least)
- "minimal" tech house (around since 2001 at the very least)
- "electro house" (around since early 2005 if not earlier)
...and this is supposed to be a new genre?
