I've had this set (the Jason Porter one from 1994) d/l for a few weeks now, and just got around to listening to it last night. Absolutely amazing set. The second track, around 7 mins or so in till about 15 mins is tiiight. Also, the track around the 25 min mark is beautiful. Loved that FF6 remix.

I read this thread when it first started. Read it today after listening to the set. Prayed to god hoping there would be a complete tracklist. Oh well

Speaking of the FF6 world theme on this mix. Does anyone know of a 'techno' remix of the Zeromus battle music of FFIV? Off topic I know, but would be nice to hear a good remix of that epic final battle track.

Totally agree with that.

Personally I love the way the first tracks flows into the second, and the second track itself, that melody that just goes on and on, then the other melody which comes in and then the little speech, wow. Brilliant stuff.

With trance from this era, I find the kicks and bass lines are more simple and functional, allowing the other parts of the track to breath and express themselves properly. Unlike modern trance, where the kick and bass tend have a far more prominent role.

Here you can find a more recent set of Porter, maybe you some of you can help to id it, especially interested to know the name of the track with the melody that comes in totally unexpected around minute 22-23.
