i found this on The American Medical Rescue message board (a sort-of myspace for young EMTs):

'm making this post for my friend Tim, age 17, whose life was saved yesterday by the game World of Warcraft. If he had never gotten into WOW, he would be dead right now.
Tim's friend Stan (also 17) was over at his house and decided to go out. Stan asked Tim to join him, but Tim lied and said he had work to do so that he could stay home and play World of Warcraft. Tim was alone, driving away when he encountered a drunk driver age 17 who had his 14 year old sister in the car. The drunk driver came into his lane causing Stan to swerve off the road, down a hill, and hit a wall of jagged rocks. Stanley flew through the windshield head-first into the rocks and perished. You can all imagine the sort of damage that was inflicted to his head... the local police used the word "jello" when describing the cranium carnage. I told Tim today that WOW had saved his life. Maybe it was a sign. The 17 year old drunk driver and 14 year old girl were fine and didn't crash. It's a sad story... yes... but, perhaps we can all learn from this terrible event. We already know that driving drunk kills, but did we know that World of Warcraft saves lives? |
