There is definitely a beginning, middle and end in minimal sets just not in the predictable ''trance formula'' most people are used to.
A minimal set takes time to unfold by creating textures through repetition something that might not be immediately accessible in the first minutes of the set.
The argument that minimal sets are just minimal tracks patched together holds no water because minimal djs use the records as tools to create new records in a set that becomes greater than the sum of its parts.
A great example of this would be Richie hawtins timeless ''decks efx and 909'' mix!

DEFX909 is far from minimal, its a composition of techno loops.
