My roommate along with a few local TA friends saw him tear it up at a local spot a couple months back. My underage status kept me from going but I've heard he rarely disappoints behind the decks.

Production-wise, he's so-so at best. Back in the day I loved his "Right of Way" album but now its far less appealing, likely due to my own general change in taste. His more recent releases like "Fire", sporting the diva vocals just doesn't do it for me, like anything with diva vocals in it. What I've heard of his other productions released around the same time as fire, and his most recent releases as well, aren't anything to write home about in my opinion.

I think Ferry's over-rated! No doubt he has some great mixing skills n sets but he isn't on my Hall of Fame, atleast not for now.

He came to Zoukout 2006 as one of the "celebrity" icons on the list, but left the crowd standing with an unsatisfied impression of the no.1 DJ.

For those who dont know, Zoukout is the biggest beach party in Singapore & South East Asia, and having his name in the list of performing acts gave me a reason to attend this 12hr megaparty...but yet he performed below my expectations.

His first track was superb, but as he moved into the latter tracks, it started turning dull, boring and there wasnt any significant climax that made the crowd go wild. He's transitions between tracks were very smooth and clean, but what's the point if you cant get the crowd pumping?

Ive heard other DJs like Darren Emerson, Gareth Emery, John O'Bir, Matt Dekay etc. perform in M.O.S Singapore & Zouk Singapore...and they were far better than Ferry in terms of playing the right sets that would draw interests n attention in the crowds. Ive had friends who are non-electronic listeners, gaining strong approval n interest in Trance within an hour of attending Gareth Emery's gig at M.O.S...that's how good his sets are!

As far as I can say, Ferry is kinda over-rated, judging from the bad impression he left on us at Zoukout 2006. I dont know if its because he woke up on the wrong side of the bed that day or if he had a bad meal before arriving in Singapore...but it was a lil dissapointing I guess.

Ferry is a legend, plain and simple.

Yes his productions are suspect at times, but he's a great DJ with solid track selections and progression throughout.

Reads the crowd like no one else.

Ah, heh. That's a sample from a Duran Duran song.

Right. Simon Le Bon. Of Duran Duran fame.

Listen to Serious by the group. It's the same. Le Bon probably made a cameo appearance for the video to lip sync it.

I've not been keeping track on what he's doing or making these days, but I still enjoy his older stuff from time to time.

Which is great since it is probably one of the most important parts of being a very successful dj. He is the man. He may not be the best technical mixer but he simply plays the right tracks at the right time, every time.
