Warning: This post is full of ridiculousness. Sketchbag discretion is advised.

I can't imagine how this party could have been any better...I was tempted to leave school early yesterday, because I still wanted to recover (my mind if anything) and reminisce on the whole weekend...

Once again, overhyping an event, and once again, not being disappointed; yay for gut feelings! Initially I was planning to arrive a bit late, but my friend's porkchop bday fest was incredibly boring..and I was sloshed. I can hardly recall a time where I didn't have fun when I was drunk...thank god for the predrinking shananigans at my house. I remember calling Kris, mumbling something about meeting earlier, and by 12:30, after snoozing at a party, I decided to yell at my best friend. Told her this was the worst party ever, and that my night hasn't begun yet. She called me a c*nt. lol. And so my stumbling journey began, where I took the wrong subway twice, and finally making it to Spadina, where Kris was patiently (yea right) waiting for the bus. I had a feeling I'd run into someone, and so I decided to sneak up behind him for a little poke...needless to say, he got extremely sketched out. Score. lol. Ok...STFU Cribby..long story short!

Ok, no need to be mean! We successfully made it to Soniq before 1:30, and found the club to be decently filled (and by decent I mean more than 20 attendants.) What caught my attention was the change in decor. The downstairs lounge area was changed a bit, an added carpet, better lighting, comfier couches! This continued upstairs, where I noticed that the overall color scheme had been changed to white? Kinda bland if you ask me...don't even remember seeing the Sonic logo anywhere on the deejay booth's lower wall. It was nice though...and the couches at the back were white too. This brought some relief...why? The last time I went to Sonic for C&C on NYD...there was a VERY sketchy incident that still haunts me to this day. Prior to the new white color scheme, the couches were pretty dark. At one point during that night I sat close to the edge of one of them...and I turned to the left...and saw a black woman curled in a ball, camouflaged in the corner. I did not notice her before...and I jumped! wtf....which is why I'm a bit relieved that it won't happen again. Whoever is in charge of the light system is doing an awesome job, not just this past Saturday but always! To be able to set the lighting mood perfectly to suit the music is pretty impressive IMO. I will elaborate on this a bit later. What really made the night for me was the crowd. It wasn't packed at all; the 'boys' were almost totally absent (no one should be complaining about shirtless folk this time around...unless it's about the stripping TAs. haha.) Very energetic people were out, and of course we made up a very good percentage.

No moments of sketchiness, except for one small incident, and one guy....this guy kept stalking me all night. Princess Sketchbag likes to call me porkchop...and he happened to do so while we were waiting in line...and some guy noticed it. Later on, he confronted me, where I almost shat myself because of how scary he sounded. He asked if I was portuguese, where I got my jacket...and I found out that this scary dude used to work for my father and uncle! ROFL. Seriously, what are the chances? of meeting a porkchop at an edm event (kinda rare), and moreso, someone who not only knows my father, but worked for him...eeeeesh. I was glad that he wasn't a random sketchbag, but after that I wish he was. He constantly tried to find me...scarily introduced himself to my friends...where he almost sat down on Kris...the look on his face was priceless hahaha. Jenners had the idea that he fancied me...and I wanted to kill her for saying that...that's just disturbing on so many levels. I just thought he was lonely, and was glad that he *knew* someone at Sonic...the last time he made an appearance...Jenn decides to cut him off...and hump my leg. He left, and I never saw him again. Lay off the horny juice Jenn! I had smiles (more than one, yessir) on my face ALL night, and I only checked the time no more than twice...that's a new record for me...and that tells you how enjoyable my night went. The only time I frowned was at closing time, because my body wasn't sore at all, and I wanted them to continue for another 3 hours; fortunately they did...but in my dreams The party ended close to 9.

The Musiq at Soniq!

Where to start? Hmmm...let me think about this one. Pffft as if I'd forget. Brad Copeland's debut at Sonic was spot on. I haven't heard him play like this since his days at System, and he looked happy. Sonic's soundsystem definately brought out the best of him. I thought he was the best guy for the job, to open up for Lexicon. He brought his A game, and set the tables for them quite nicely. Great progressive house, with a hint of funkiness. Lots of unfamiliar tunage which was refreshing to say the least. After 20 minutes that I had got there, I got into the groove quickly, and so did everyone else on the dancefloor. Mr. Copeland headlining at Sonic wouldn't be so bad at all...it'd be a great idea if anything. I insist that he open up for another Saw recording night!

The transition from Brad to Lexicon was smooth; didn't notice they went on until they announced it. As Shelley said..

I wanna rock down to Lexicon Avenue...did I ever.

I had a flashback from their Dasding Plattenleger set...and I thought to myself, am I ready for this? Oh yooooo. My feet were! I was hoping they'd start off their set with the same tune...but that was just wishful thinking. It's ok, because they started off instead with another quarky tech tune, not as good, but got my blood boiling. Their set reminded me of a 'wheel of tunes.' They randomly spun the wheel and whatever the pointer landed on, they would play. The pointer managed to land on a variety of genres. Starting off with good ol progressive for quite a while. That's what I wanted to hear! Track selection was 'das good' and I never payed attention to the booth; no idea who spun what. I always let my imagination run wild, and at every great event I become something else. This time I felt like a lizard. A progressive, climate adjusting, ADD lizard. Major swaggering went on...it's too bad Nikola wasn't there . After a good dose of prog, they changed it up with some electro flavour, whilst still keeping the prog. They played some tribal, a bit of minimal-inspired tunes, a few bouncy trance tracks, and some tech house. A bit of everything really. Tune salad! At one point during the night they hit us with such a clickity-quarky mind fuck tune. The lighting at this point in time was awesome. They used those flashy white lights, not enough to blind you, but enough to trip you out. I need an ID on this track...I closed my eyes, and saw boulders of light falling down from a flying train, hitting me right in my soul. They played another tune that was superb, this time electrosexual...everyone asked me for the ID...but I failed this time At 7 am they decided to play their older funky stuff. The played the funk! Who got the funk? She got the funk? He got the funk? Grandma got the funk? I got the funk Groovy ass shaking took place from there...and didn't stop. They didn't exceed my expectations, because they were so high...but they were definately up there. Can't wait til they come back...now they know what Toronto has to offer. Wheeeeee.

I'm going to be a little bit more organized this time..so..

Les Tunes Magnifique

Mark Knight - Susan
Booka Shade - In White Rooms
John Acquaviva Pres. Swen Weber - First Stroke
Mync Project - Strobe Light
Paul Woolford - Erotic Discourse (Axwell Remix)
Underworld - Peggy Sussed (Pete Heller Dub)
M.A.N.D.Y. & Bookashade - Body Language (Remix?)
Sebastien Leger - Bad Clock
<- went MENTAL to this as usual.

So glad that a bunch of you made it to Sonic for the first time...and those who came and surprised me..fuck...I love you guys. Great people make the party, and TAs rock! Once again, Happy Birthday to Josh, who was having the time of his life as well

^^^ WTF?!?! Cribby, you are too funny. I always love your reviews and am consistently amazed (disturbed?) by the random things you experience and observe each weekend...

Question: Have you ever thought of wearing a helmut-cam? It could save you some valuable time and might even open up a pay-per-view revenue stream opportunity...

Just a thought.

Wow! I'm speechless. I have faith that more nights will be as pleasurable at Sonic as this one was. Thank you Sonic team and thank you everyone that made this night special. Great to see everyone. A great big thanks to Brad Copeland and Lexicon Avenue. Come back ASAP.

Bwahahahaha. Weird things happen to weird people

That's definately a great idea...it would have to be unrated and uncensored though....but to be honest, I'd be scared if I was someone else seeing the thoughts that come across my mind during the night..
