i think it does, going back to that thing i mentioned at turnmills when he swapped the mixers over to a silent room, the music sounded so much better afterwards, a much richer, warmer sound. Also, I noticed the difference on my home system and on my cd's when i upgraded from my old pcv-275 to my 62... |
i didn't go to this party...but this made me think of something.
awhile back (almost 3 years ago) when i was in nyc, there were rumors that whenever pvd came, he brought a special post-mixer processor that would help give his sets that infamous "pvd" sound with the patent "pvd" kick + clap. outside of his nyc gigs, i've only seen pvd in london @ heaven, and at dancevalley 2005 and didn't really pick up on it...but i wouldn't be surprised that whenever he is able to, pvd will and probably does have a different sound check and/or equipment to make his sets sound the way they do. the sound quality of his sets at twilo, sound factory, and roxy were all the same.
a couple friends and i all were pretty convinced that this processor was basically a multiband compressor that crunched the high frequencies to highlight the attack of pvd's kick and those claps. it was just ridiculous how crisp and clear they would sound compared to other dj's.
no idea how true or false this is...just something to think about.
but i agree tho. a&h mixers blow pioneer ones right out of the water. the djm600 is actually a pretty crap club mixer.
