you know what, honestly this set pretty much reminded me of the countless nights i spent at twilo, years on years, this is how they played out in nyc, how they started out. digweed ALWAYS starts out slow, when its a s&d night, it's always a build of progression. i got in at 1230, it was slow as fuck but i didn't care i was too busy getting drunk, walking around you know warming up to the party. then come around 130ish sasha came on and it still was slow about 5 tracks into his set, i was perfectly fine with that, it didn't really bang out until like 230ish and thats straight through till 6am. thats exactly how it was at twilo. people expect bangers right off the bat, s&d were NEVER like that, the only exception set i've heard them bang out early was delta heavy at miami arena and digweed started off really dark and hard.
i absolutely loved mansions set, it was everything i expected out of them. i'm guessing those who did not have a good time were expecting tracks like xpander and shit, to tell you the truth, those 'popular' tracks by s&d aren't really their forte.
i would have died if sasha dropped trisco muzak and digweed dropped pa dida, those were the only two i wished would have completed a nigth of perfection |
I dunno what twilo you went to, but Digweed never started it slower than 126 bpm (not 120 or 119 minimal garbage)
I am not going to beat a dead horse but, maybe some tracks reminded you of Twilo and that's great... But SnD do not have that same flow anymore. The set at Mansion had no direction, and no vibe. Just like last year @ Space, there is no feeling in most of their sets anymore. Forget about hearing Xpander and shit like that, Sasha doesn't really search for tracks that hard anymore, he just puts them in Live and mashes them. As for Digweed, he gets way too much music to be playing the same intro track in 4 different cites on the same tour. That was not done on the Delta Heavy or GU 19 tours...

Your missing the point, I'm done. Congrats on that 95 % thing. Slow music is fine and yes is one of SnD's sig opening intros, like many other DJ's. But opening slow and continuing slow into nowhere, and having a set just go off slow and be mixed into an un-organized, poorly thought out set is not what made Twilo so famous. You should know that... you were there. Either way this thread got way too much attention from me, and really it did not deserve as much attention as it got.
