Yes me 2, if this pole was done 100 years ago the results would be much different, and i bet 100 years from now option 1 will become even a small precentage of the population.

The real problem with your position that believe in God negates the existance of free will is that your concept of God is not a commonly held one (I presume that you actually don't know a great deal about theology and are basing your theory on what you think those who believe in God believe about him), therefore, what you are really saying is "if you believe in a devine entity that is what I think you think God is then their is no free will." Unfortunately for your theory, all the major religious families believe that man has free will... thus it would seem that if you believe in god you do in fact believe in free will. Your logic is flawed by a lack of understanding. Please try again when you understand the subject.

very well. but its hard to understand how One can create the universe and beyond but not be able to know the outcome/actions of one species.

What annoys me is when others push their religion on others. You can educate them about your religion...but allow each other to form their own opinions. People not believing in your God is not going to effect whether you believe or not.

What you're failing to see, however, is that for many religions one of the chief tenents of faith is evangalism. This is especially true in the Chritian faiths as all of them contain a mission of apostalism. Granted some are more subtle then others... Anababtists (read: mennonites, amish, etc) believe that their lives should be lived as examples of Jesus' teachings and they therefore lead by example, Roman Catholics generally believe that doing good works in the name of Christ fullfills their apostolic mission, most of the Evangelical churchs believe that they must win people to Christ through educating them of Christ's teachings. Unfortunately, there are many that get a little too zeallous in trying to spread "the good news."

*priestly answer* - Ah yes, but God is beyond human understanding thus all things concerning God are difficult to understand.

*average joe who has just read way to much theology answer* - the difficulty only comes in how one understands "creating." Did god create every single individual thing or did he/it/them simply lay the groundwork for life to develope independent of further intervention. If the former then yes, it's difficult to understand how God could not have foreknowledge of everything. If the latter then it makes sense God would not know exactly how all would unfold.

My personal believe on the subject is as follows: if there is a god(s) (I am not arrogant enough to think that what I believe is absolutely correct) then it is likely he/it/they created the universe or more correctly the singularity that became the universe with all the intricacies necessary for life to evolve in unpredictable ways (as it has). I further believe that all the major religions really worship the same entity who handed down the same message tailored to fit the culture to which he/it revealed his/itself. All religious differences are stylistic rather then substantive.

Well, that depends on whether you think in terms of God is bound by linear time, or he is non linear and exists out of time.

Even if God is bound by time, the question is whether he is omnipotent (ie he can do anything) or omniscient(he knows all possible outcomes)

God talk gives me headache

The bottom line here is we are just someone's sneeze in a celestial petri dish.

For God's sake, Lisa Simpson created Lutherans in the course of a 3rd grade science project.

And that bothers you?

Personally, if I turn out to be some god's experiment or accident, well... Nothing I can really do about it.

This has always been uber-simple to me.

Live your life as well as you can by bringing as much happiness to people and minimal pain. Be the person you want to be and treat others how you would like to be treated.

If there ever is a day of reckoning, I know I will pass with flying colours.

That's all from me. (no, I don't believe)

how can you be into this trance and all kinds of 'electronica' and not believe in God...and what does God have to do with organized religion and church...don't let religion clous your outlook on the so called existence of god.
