yea but we love Red Sox fans, half the fun of the rivalry is the fans, no more fun than abusing red Sox fans in the bleachers, although Mets fans are a close second

wow that was a long game!!

i wasn't even supposed to go but my friends were going so i left work early and just made it down

good game overall, nothing special good, devils played well and held off the senators. total turn around from game 1, and i hope things keep getting better from here

that goal brylin scored with .1 seconds in the first was ridiculous! even made sports centers top 10 plays, brylin never scores so it was really unexpected!

no real response there huh? your posts are a waste of space in this thread. tell us something about the ranger game today. or maybe the detroit game yesterday since i know you think the devils are boring and you wouldnt watch them. tell me something other than how you dislike the devils. i'd like to hear your opinion on something that matters. do you actually follow your team or have you not been paying attention when they sucked up until last year?

second rate fan cause i am passionate about my team? ok that makes sense. you guys were ready to have a parade last season when you finally made the playoffs for the first time in what, like 7 years or so? more than half the league makes the playoffs and you guys were excited about finally getting there only to have your asses handed to you by the "boring devils" in a sweep. i'd call that second rate.

To funny reading all these posts. Ranger fans never have one valid hockey argument they can make about the Devils hahaha..Everything is the devils cant sell out and they are boring. HAHA thats it..its all i ever hear them say. I just laugh at them. They all just wish they were half as good as the Devils have been the past 13-14 years. 3 cups is all I have to say.

Golf course is awaiting NY

Lets Go DEVILS!!!

them not being able to sell out is a valid point. no doubt the team is good but what about when they aren't as good? if you can't build a fan base what are you going to do during down times? the nhl is a business and it needs paying customers. devil tickets are some of the more expensive tickets in the league and their season attendance percentage is around 73% (obviously excluding the lockout year) since 2000 putting the team in the bottom half of nhl teams in regards to attendance. those numbers are TERRIBLE especially since they won two Stanley Cups in that period. gotta make sure ownership has enough money to sustain the team and pay the salary cap maximum if need be not be like a pittsburgh which team cap hovers around the league team minimum.

i'm an avalanche fan and have adopted the rangers but respect the devils...they didn't win in 2001 so i have no hard feelings

im confused about how the devils not selling out has anything to do with how they play the game. All it means is that NJ isn't really a mecca for hockey. You shouldn't read anything into it the attendance except that NJ isn't keen on Hockey. In fact, not one of my friends is a hockey fan. generally ppl in nj tend to like football and baseball, and your not going to get many people from outside of NJ to like an NJ team because we don't get much press over here. The Nets have the same problem.

BTW, i don't see how moving to Newark is going to improve the situation. Why does the organization think moving the team into one of the worst cities in the US will improve attendance? I remember hearing the head of the devils talk about attracting suburban families to the games via NJ transit. I'm not sure if they are connected to reality, but suburban families like using cars, that's part of the reason they moved to suburbia. Futhermore, I think they are only driving away the demographic they are trying to attract. Im not sure if Suburban white people still feel this way, but to them Newark was a war zone and was avoided like the plague. The plot of land between hoboken and jersey city would've been a much better choice if it was feasible.

people bring up attendance because the devils can't seem to draw a loyal fan base. it has nothing to do with them on the ice yet but if they can't make money it'll be a little difficult to keep/attain players.

moving to newark will supposedly improve their situation because of it's accessiblity to the city. there is public transit plus thousands of parking spots available within a couple blocks of the arena. i can't speak for suburban white people feeling intimidated by the city but more companies are willing to spend money on club seats and suites. to me this arena seems like a good idea in the grand scheme of new buildings. as for nj not being a hockey mecca maybe constant exposure to it will drive interest and $10 seats make it an affordable alternative to a movie...obviously attendance hasn't affected the team's record, but i do think it's important. just my $0.02

jerz07002, i gotta disagree with you about why nj attendance is so low. i believe that attendance is low completely due to location of the sports complex. look at nearly every other team whether its basketball or hockey. they almost all reside in a major metropolitan area, if not in the city itself. that accounts for such a rise in attendance. you might say however, meadowlands isn't far from new york city at all, 15-20 minute drive. that is true, however, new york city already has its teams, whether its baseball, basketball, hockey, whichever. nj, unlike many other states, does not have large metropolitan city that its centralized around. Because its so close to new york city, thats where everything is gravitated towards. Even though newark is a rather large city, its still completely overshadowed by new york. its very unlikely that people from mid to southern nj are going to travel consistently 1-2 hours just to get to our nets and devils games... and it shows in attendance. if you look at the giants and jets games, which oddly enough is in the same sports complex, those attendance rates are fine because they are the only football teams around nyc area and having new york in front of the team name doesn't hurt either. all the football fans in this just naturally gravitate toward those two teams and their games. i think the move could definitely help, i'm just sad that the nets are moving to brooklyn, which means they're probably going to become a new york team.
